Eat Here: 4 Diverse Restaurants at Restaurant Village at Long Valley
In Mid-May I ventured to Restaurant Village in Long Valley, NJ to go on a tour with the gracious and fun owners of Restaurant Village, Andrea and Steve Busell. First of all, if you haven’t been to Long Valley, it’s a beautiful town surrounded by farms and greenery. Secondly, if you do venture to Long Valley, eating at Restaurant Village is kind of a no brainer since they have FOUR restaurants for you to choose from, each of them with their own diverse food and style, and AMAZING food.
Long Valley Brew Pub
We started our tour of Restaurant Village at Long Valley Brew Pub, which has been serving craft beer since 1995. I’ll be doing a specific spotlight on Long Valley Brew Pub, so for now let me just say that the building was beautiful. It was constructed back in 1771(!) and remained part of a dairy farm until the 1940s. In 1995, construction of the brewery began…and as they say the rest is history.
There is plenty of seating whether it’s on their main floor, upstairs, or their beautiful patio outdoors. Their beer is AMAZING and their food menu ranges from classic pub fare to more upscale food, so there is something for everyone. The restaurant also hosts a Sunday brunch buffet, live music on Fridays, and an annual Oktoberfest celebration which I look forward to this fall.
Red Lantern Restaurant
Next we ventured to Red Lantern Restaurant, a very hip Asian-inspired restaurant which specializes in making creative and beautiful dishes. The full Pan-Asian menu incorporates dishes from China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, and they make their sushi fresh to order. You can even grab a seat at their six-seat sushi bar.
The restaurant also hosts a full beverage menu including Japanese beer, domestic and imported wine, and SAKE. Very smooth, delicious sake I might add…
While we were there we split appetizers of the spicy edamame, tempura rock shrimp, tuna carpaccio, and stuff jalapenos. I was blown away by the presentation of the food, it (almost) looked too good to eat.
La Rienda Latin Cafe
Our next restaurant stop was La Rienda Latin Cafe, a restaurant known for it’s authentic Hispanic food. The building has been standing for almost two and half centuries and was the site of Nietzer Tavern built in 1763. They say George Washington had a drink there! The building still has it’s original structure…it’s gorgeous!
At La Rienda, everything is homemade including their corn tortillas. Their menu ranges from guacamole, soup, burritos, fajitas, Cuban sandwiches, empanadas and more. And of course…margaritas! While we were there we dined on guacamole, empanadas, fresh salsa and chips, and more
Andrea’s Dining Room:
Last but not least, we went to Andrea’s Dining Room, the original site of the Long Valley Hotel which was built in the mid 1800s.
Andrea’s is a chic Italian restaurant with a romantic lounge and bar. Perfect for pretty much every occasion! The restaurant also hosts a “Ladies Night” every Thursday in the Lounge with $6 house wines, $7 martinis and half price ten inch tomato pies!
Even if you’re not eating (but why wouldn’t you??) , this is a great bar to hang out with the most friendly bartenders.
At Andrea’s Dining room you can dine on Italian specialties, homemade pasta, and brick oven pizza (my favorite). We got to eat this pizza right out of the oven.
They have plenty of land and sea options as well. In addition to the food being delicious, the presentation was beautiful.
Overall, Restaurant Village offers so many great options, and even if you can only visit for a day you can easily enjoy drinks and appetizers at each location. Every restaurant was different in it’s own way, but they all took pride in their food, the service was impeccable, and the quality of each meal was outstanding.
With warm weather finally here, this is the perfect spot to grab a drink and food on the patio!
