Protect Wildlife This Summer – Join Cedar Run for a Low-Sensory 4th of July Event

This Independence Day, Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge is offering a unique, peaceful alternative to traditional holiday festivities. On Saturday, July 4, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the local non-profit will host a free, low-sensory, family-friendly Movie Night featuring a outdoor screening of Disney’s Brother Bear.

The evening is designed to provide a welcoming, relaxed environment for community members looking to spend time in nature. Guests can enjoy roasting s’mores around a fire pit, popcorn, and special treats available for purchase from Sweet Elaine’s.

While July 4th is traditionally celebrated with loud fireworks, Cedar Run’s Movie Night provides a vital alternative for those who find standard displays overwhelming. The low-sensory environment is ideal for families with young children or individuals with sensory sensitivities.

Additionally, the event highlights a cause close to the organization’s heart: protecting local wildlife. Loud fireworks displays can cause severe stress, disorientation, and harm to native animals. By opting for a quiet night in the woods, attendees can celebrate the holiday in a way that respects the surrounding ecosystem.

Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving New Jersey’s wildlife and habitats through education, conservation, and rehabilitation. Their impact on the community is substantial:
– Wildlife Care: The on-site Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital treats more than 7,900 injured, sick, and orphaned wild animals each year.
– Education: Cedar Run’s environmental education programs reach over 22,000 local students annually.

While admission to the Movie Night is entirely free, proceeds from the food and treat sales throughout the evening will go directly toward supporting the care of animals admitted to the wildlife hospital over the busy holiday weekend.
