Official Press Release:

Metal guitar hero Michael Schenker to The Newton Theatre on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 8:00 pm. Tickets will go on sale Friday, January 9th, 2015 at 11:00 am. Members of the Newton Theatre will have a two day pre-sale begining on Wednesday, January 7th at 11:00 am.

One of Guitar World’s “100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists”, this German sensation’s explosive, world-renowned guitar prowess is still as adrenalin-fueled as when he played with epic metal bands The Scorpions and UFO. Featuring Michael Schenker, the band consists of top metal musicians Francis Buchholz (Scorpions), Herman Rarebell (Scorpions), Wayne Findlay (MSG) and Doogie White (Rainbow). This once in a lifetime line-up will perform the best of the Scorpions, UFO, MSG and more.

The list of Michael Schenker’s successes is an extensive one. As a young man, he joined his brother’s band the Scorpions, one of the first real international hard rock bands from Germany. In the 70s, he similarly helped the British rock legends UFO to their definitive breakthrough, making songs like Rock Bottom or Doctor, Doctor into hits everyone knows.

Briefly returning to the familiar fold of the Scorpions, Michael’s collaboration helped create possibly their best album, Lovedrive, which includes the perennial ballads Holiday, Loving You Sunday Morning and Always Somewhere. In 1980 it was time for the guitarist to go it alone and form his first band, the Michael Schenker Group, also known as MSG. This is where some of the world’s best musicians gathered, cavorting with founding members such as Gary Barden, Don Airey or Simon Phillips. Roger Glover from Deep Purple manned the production console for the first record. Since then, MSG has become a synonym for honest, hand-crafted and impelling premium hard rock. The band leader has consistently demonstrated the highest level of creativity and pluck, also presenting his elaborate compositions acoustically, with and without his band.

Michael continues to discover new ways of playing just as he always has from very early on in his career and he keeps getting better and better.

Tickets for Michael Schenker are $49.00 for Premium seating, $44.00 for the Orchestra and $39.00 for the Balcony. Tickets for this show will go on sale Friday, January 9th at 11:00 am. Purchase tickets by visiting www.thenewtontheatre.com or contact the Box Office at 973-383-3700.
