New Jersey Isn’t Boring’s Guide to New Jersey Events  Labor Day Weekend (August 30 – September 1) is your go-to source for the best events happening across the Garden State! Whether you’re searching for lively festivals, captivating performances, family-friendly fun, or seasonal activities, our guide has you covered. The New Jersey Sunflower Trail
All August Long, 10 am – 5 pm
The New Jersey Sunflower Trail is now open for visitors. On select weekends, expect food trucks, a beer and wine garden, live music, axe throwing, and crafters. Enjoy hayrides, an Activity Area, and additional food options, including beer from Buttzville Brewing Company. Weekday activities include exploring the sunflower trail, taking photos at over 20 spots, picking fresh raspberries and peaches, and visiting farm animals.

“Jaw-some Adventure” at Adventure Aquarium
All August Long, 9:30 am – 5 pm

Adventure Aquarium is celebrating Shark Week with its “Jaw-some Adventure” summer programming, highlighting the Northeast’s largest collection of sharks through thrilling exhibits and interactive experiences for all ages. Guests can snorkel beside sandbar and sand tiger sharks in a 550,000-gallon tank for a limited-time price of $99.99, go behind the scenes of Shark Realm for $19.99, walk the world’s longest rope Shark Bridge, touch real sharks, and view a rare great hammerhead up close. Included with general admission are Shark Chats, dive presentations, the Touch-a-Shark experience, a 360° Shark Tunnel, and the chance to symbolically adopt a shark. AirFest
August 28 – 31

Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum will host AirFest 2025, its largest event of the year, from August 28 to 31 inside its historic 92,000-square-foot WWII-era wooden hangar. This four-day celebration of aviation, history, and community offers visitors the chance to get up close with legendary aircraft such as the C-53 Skytrooper “Beach City Baby,” Supermarine Spitfire, F4U Corsair, SNJ Texan, and a variety of helicopters on interactive display. In addition to aircraft, AirFest will feature food trucks, live music, local vendors, military vehicles, fire trucks, and hands-on family activities, along with access to the museum’s impressive exhibits and artifact collection. Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome.

Glassboro Car Show & Food Truck Festival
August 29, 5 pm – 9 pm

The Annual Glassboro Car Show & Food Truck Festival rolls into Downtown Glassboro. This free, family-friendly event is set to attract thousands of car enthusiasts who can admire over 300 vehicles while enjoying live music and a variety of local food trucks. With ample free parking and dedicated signage and attendants to guide attendees, the event ensures a smooth experience for all. The car show and festival will take place rain or shine, offering something for every gearhead and casual admirer alike.

Labor Day Weekend Boardwalk Craft Show

Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival
August 29 – 31

This family music festival features southern Appalachian old-time and bluegrass and related music styles. For kids, there is also a Children’s Stage. The festival site has plenty of room for camping for tenters as well as RVers, and unlike many other festivals, they do not charge extra for camping. Weekend ticket holders may camp on the grounds at no charge, but camping is available only to weekend ticket holders – daily ticket holders may not bring vehicles or camping gear into the campground.

Argos Farm Sunflower Festival
August 29 – 31, 3 pm – 8 pm on Fri and Sun, 3 pm – 9 pm on Sat

The annual Argos Farm Sunflower Festival returns for 2025 offering visitors the chance to stroll through vibrant sunflower fields at the perfect golden hour for breathtaking photos or to pick blooms for an additional fee. Guests can enjoy live music, farm-fresh treats like pasture-raised beef burgers and fresh donuts, and relax in the beer garden, while families will find plenty of activities including a jumbo jumper air pillow, double hay slide, obstacle course, bee zip line, cow train ride, pedal carts, and more.

West Cape May Tomato Festival
August 30, 9 am – 4 pm

This themed festival will celebrate all things tomato, featuring farm-fresh tomatoes, handmade tomato-themed products, and tomato-inspired dishes. This year introduces the festival’s first Tomato Contest.Proceeds from this quirky event will benefit the WCM Shade Tree Commission, supporting their efforts to protect and enhance the tree canopy in West Cape May. Attendees are encouraged to come out and enjoy the community spirit.

NJ Clearwater Festival
August 30

This open-air music festival celebrates the collective effort to protect the environment, serving as a key networking hub in New Jersey for environmental ideas and initiatives. Attendees can enjoy performances on two music stages featuring top folk and rock acts, browse crafts and green vendors, engage with enviro-activists, savor food from various trucks, and participate in special activities for children and discussion round-tables. The festival upholds the spirit of fellowship and song pioneered by Pete Seeger over 50 years ago, combining fun, inspiration, and education.

South Jersey Seafood & Music Festival
August 30, 11 am – 7 pm

The South Jersey Seafood & Music Festival returns on Saturday, August 30th at the scenic Washington Lake Park, offering the perfect way to kick off Labor Day Weekend. This seafood-filled “FISHtival” promises a day of delicious eats, live music, and family fun. Attendees can indulge in lobster rolls, crab cakes, shrimp, and more from top food vendors including Cousins Maine Lobster, Angry Archies, Sherri’s Crab Cakes, Crawdaddy’s Cajun, and Tacoholics, along with dessert favorites like Cold Stone and House of Cupcakes. The event also features a beer, margarita, and sangria garden, vendors, and a variety of kids’ activities including inflatables, miniature golf, a bungee trampoline, rock wall, and a thrilling 35-foot high, 250-foot long zip line running through the festival. Live music will be performed throughout the day by Poor Mouth Henry, Undisputed, and the Jenny Barnes Band, making this a can’t-miss celebration of summer.

Fall Flower Festival and Craft Market at Well-Sweep
August 30 & 31 9 am – 5 pm Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm Sunday

Celebrate the end of the gardening season with two full days of free lectures, garden tours, live music, and a craft market featuring a curated selection of vendors and delicious food, presented in partnership with Marketspace Vendor Events. With over 1,898 plant varieties available—the largest selection yet—this rain-or-shine event offers something for everyone. Admission and parking are free. Confirmed vendors include Absinthe & Alchemy, Ana’s Bakery, Celtic Chairde Creations, Ms. Fu’s Yummy Food Truck, Sage Soul Studio, The Humming Baker, and many more.

BBQ & Craft Beer Festival
August 30 – September 1

The annual BBQ & Craft Beer Festival returns to Monmouth Park this Labor Day weekend for three days of delicious BBQ and craft beer. Attendees can savor over 40 craft beers brewed in New Jersey and enjoy a variety of BBQ favorites, including ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. Food trucks will start serving around 11 am, and beer garden sampling tickets are available for $15, which includes 10 two-ounce samples. Sampling runs from 11:30 am to 5 pm, with ticket sales and check-in from 11:30 am to 4 pm; day-of ticket purchases are cash only. Live music will entertain from 12 to 4 pm each day, and on Saturday and Sunday, families can enjoy free activities such as clowns, face painting, pony rides, and a bounce house from 12 to 4 pm in the picnic area. Tickets for general admission and sampling can be purchased in advance at seatgeek.com/monmouth to save 15%.

Frenchtown Riverfest
August 31, 11 am – 7 pm

Established in 2004, Frenchtown’s Riverfest is a celebration of life along the river. Riverfest is a one day event held on Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Riverfest has two stages along with 60 plus vendors showcasing local talent.

Maplewood Porchfest
August 31, 1 pm – 5 pm

Maplewood Porchfest 2024 is scheduled for Sunday September 1 from 1-5 PM (rain date September 2). This free event will feature numerous porches around the Hilton neighborhood of Maplewood with a wide array of music and entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Riverdale’s Annual Labor Day Street Fair
September 1, 10 am – 5 pm

Riverdale’s Annual Labor Day Street Fair, hosted by the Borough of Riverdale, takes place along the Newark Pompton Turnpike from Newbury Place to Cotluss Road on Labor Day Monday. The street transforms into a lively block party with quality exhibitors, an arts and crafts section, live entertainment, over 15 food trucks, and a variety of local vendors. Guests can enjoy gourmet festival foods, live music, dancing, demonstrations, and the “Kidz Traveling Shindig” featuring rides, games, and activities for children. This family-friendly tradition offers fun, food, and entertainment for the entire community.
