Day of the Dead

New Brunswick: Último Domingo, Día de los Muertos at the Zimmerli Art Museum

Día de los Muertos at Lackawanna Plaza

Join us for New Jersey’s most vibrant Día de los Muertos celebration — a three-day festival honoring life, memory, and community. Set inside the iconic, newly renovated Lackawanna Plaza, Latinos of Montclair transforms the space into a vibrant hub featuring dozens of Latino vendors, breathtaking performances, curated ticketed experiences, and New Jersey’s largest community altar — a celebration with something for everyone.

Art Council of Princeton’s Día de los Muertos
November 1, 1 pm – 3 pm

Princeton’s annual festival with the Arts Council of Princeton features music, dance, food, and art for all ages. This outdoor celebration brings together neighbors, artists, and families to honor loved ones and share Mexican culture.

Asbury Park’s Día de los Muertos
November 1, 4 pm – 7 pm

Asbury Park brings dia de los muertos to the boardwalk with an oceanfront celebration. The city’s second annual event is set for, with early face painting starting at 2 p.m. This free, family-friendly gathering welcomes everyone, pets included, to honor loved ones through music and art. The walk begins at Convention Hall and continues along the Asbury Park Boardwalk, ending at the historic Casino. Expect mariachi, singing, and plenty of color. Pet friendly!

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration

This Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), you’re invited to a free, immersive celebration of Mexican heritage, vibrant artistry and heartfelt remembrance. Calpulli Mexican Dance Company: Día de Muertos
November 2, 3 pm

Calpulli Mexican Dance Company celebrates the past and present of Mexican-American culture through universal messages of love and hope. Using both folk and classical music and dance, Día de Muertos explores a love story that spans the boundary between the living and the departed, and offers a new, family-friendly holiday classic for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. A loving couple falls victim to treachery and is separated, seemingly forever. The young woman enters Mictlán – the underworld of Aztec mythology – where the mesmerizing Catrina reigns as queen.
