Annual Spring Model Train Show

The Garden State Model Railway Club will open its doors once again for their annual Spring Model Train Show! They will be running steam and diesel trains of all kinds on a 1200 square foot HO scale layout, including Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends. There will also be a second railroad room open which features our new railroad currently under construction, a children’s railroad where kids can try their hand at running trains, and for sale items to complete your collection at home.

Cinnamon Bun Run 5.2K & 10K

Kick off the spring running season with the sweetest race around. Choose between a flat, fast 5.2K or 10K and enjoy a warm cinnamon bun at the finish line. Walkers are welcome in the 5.2K. Giacobbe, the Rahway City Council, and the City of Rahway’s Special Improvement District invite you to get your taste buds ready for their premier Restaurant Tasting Event, happening in Downtown Rahway—the Rahway Taste of Spring! Now in its 22ndt year, this event has been widely recognized as the largest tasting event of its kind in the NJ/NY Metro Area, typically with upwards of 40 eateries and bakeries, plus an additional 40 stations of national distributors of fine wine, boutique beers and aperitifs. Beach Sweeps
April 12, 9 am – 12:30 pm

The Beach Sweeps are held at over 80+ locations throughout New Jersey. Volunteers gather from Raritan to Delaware Bays and along the ocean to clean beaches and waterways, as well as underwater sites. They join as groups (community, school, business, and organization), families, or individuals. Participants collect and record valuable data about debris, which is presented in annual reports and used to advance federal, state, and local programs to reduce litter.

Celebrate spring and all things green by joining your friends and neighbors at Collingswood’s Annual Green Festival, located just off Haddon Ave on Irvin Ave near the PATCO High-Speed line. Sparta Special Olympics Spring Vendor & Craft Fair
April 12, 10 am to 3 pm

With over 60 vendors of all types, including food trucks, attendees can expect a vibrant atmosphere. The event will feature the return of their beloved bulldog friends, and visitors are encouraged to visit the kissing booth. Admission is free, although donations are welcome. Local crafters and small business owners will convene at Sparta High School to showcase their products and talents. The event aims to support the Sparta Special Olympics and Special Olympics NJ Area 3, fostering inclusivity and spreading awareness. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the inspiring Athletes of Determination and offer them well wishes for the 2024 season. The fair will take place outdoors in the front parking lot of Sparta High School, come rain or shine.

Highlands Fire Department Food Truck Event
April 26, 12 pm – 5 pm

The Highlands Fire Department is hosting a Food Truck and Vendor Event to raise funds in support of the department. Attendees can enjoy a variety of delicious foods from across New Jersey, browse more than 30 vendors offering unique boutique items, and take part in a 50/50 fundraiser benefiting the fire department. The event will also feature activities for children and an over-21 beverage garden sponsored by the firehouse. In the event of inclement weather, the rain date is set for April 27.

The Beer Run

Join The Beer Run, where your fellow runners become your drinking buddies! Participants can walk or run a 5K route through a charming historic village and scenic nature trails, concluding at a craft beer festival featuring the finest beer and cuisine in New Jersey. Each ticket includes race registration, 12 small beer tastings, a souvenir glass, and admission to the festival with live music, games, and a variety of food trucks. The Annual Craft Beer and Food Truck Festival will take place at Veteran’s Park in Beach Haven, NJ, featuring breweries from across the state. Admission is $25 for those 21 and older who wish to drink, which includes a cup and four craft beer drink tickets. Tickets can only be purchased on the day of the event via cash or credit. Non-drinkers are welcome with donation-based entry and can explore craft vendors, enjoy a variety of food trucks, listen to live music, and participate in a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds support the local volunteer fire company.
