Great Adventure’s Fright Fest/Kids Boo Fest

Six Flags Great Adventure offers two Halloween events: Fright Fest for older audiences and Kids Boo Fest for families. Fintastic Pumpkin Glow @ Adventure Aquarium

During the fall festivities, guests can discover a mesmerizing collection of glowing gourds in every shape, size, and species shining above the surface or illuminating the depths among sharks, stingrays, and other unique aquatic life. NEW to this year’s festival is a nearly 10-foot underwater octopus shaped out of pumpkins and a snorkeling Scarecrow tasked with keeping watch over the Aquarium’s underwater pumpkin patch. In addition to the fall-themed sights, guests can check out the Aquarium’s seasonal sensory tables, which feature pumpkin slime and other hands-on sensory experiences—all included with admission. For an extra special experience, guests can pay $5 to paint and take home their own pumpkin masterpiece. The Aquarium’s gift shop will also be selling various pumpkin-themed souvenirs. Inspired by her then 5 year old son, who after attending Christmas tree lightings and menorah lightings, curiously asked his Mom why there wasn’t a Diwali Diya lighting, Kanika decided to create a family-friendly showcase of Indian culture.

Mountain Creek Fall Festival

Point Pleasant Beach Book & Literacy Festival

Woodlands Wildlife Refuge Community Day

Woodlands will host its annual Community Day, offering a rare chance for the public to explore one of New Jersey’s leading wildlife rehabilitation centers. Normally closed except for patient admissions and educational programs, Woodlands will open its doors for self-guided tours, wildlife-focused activities for kids, and expert discussions on wildlife topics. Visitors can meet resident animals like the Sulcata tortoise, Eastern box turtle, and corn snake, and enjoy live animal presentations by Eyes of The Wild. Admission donations include tours, presentations, food, and select children’s activities.

A Celebration of Pets

The event will feature a variety of pet-oriented businesses, including animal shelters, fostering groups, pet sitters, and artisans who create products for and about pets. Attendees can enjoy music, food, and activities for kids, as well as a PET PARADE at 2:30 p.m., with prizes in several categories. Pets may also receive a blessing for those who wish. The event is free, rain or shine, and all are welcome, with or without a pet.

Pumpkin Patch Trains

Join in the Halloween fun at the Whippany Railway Museum onboard the “Pumpkin Patch Train” ! The 10-mile, 45-minute round trip from Whippany to Roseland and return is the perfect way to spend a Fall afternoon with the family. After each ride, children with valid train tickets can go to the Pumpkin Patch and pick out a free kid-sized pumpkin and receive a pumpkin decorating kit while supplies last. Children of all ages are encouraged to come dressed in their Halloween costumes, helping to make the train a spooky sight!
