Wassailing the Apple Trees
February 1, 1 pm – 4 pm
Raise a glass of hot cider as Terhune Orchards honors the trees that give us wonderful apples. The ancient British tradition of wassailing the apple trees to protect them from harm is a popular winter celebration at Terhune Orchards that you won’t want to miss!
Activities include singing, dancing and playing of primitive instruments, toasts of hot cider and placing gifts of cider-soaked bread in the tree branches while chanting the lively words of praise and New Year. The Handsome Molly Dancers and Kingessing Morris Dancers will lead in festive singing and dancing to ensure the orchards have a good harvest in 2026.

Maple Sugaring at the Environmental Education Center
February 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, & 28
Visitors will learn how trees are tapped, view sap-collecting methods past and present, and see the boiling process that produces delicious New Jersey maple syrup. This 60-minute, outdoor program is conducted at our Sugar Shack, a ½-mile hike from the EEC. Please arrive at the EEC 30-40 minutes before the program start time to purchase tickets and hike to the Sugar Shack to meet your Naturalist. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Boots are recommended as the trails can be wet, muddy, and/or covered by snow.

Winter Warrior Challenge

Maple Sugaring in Rancocas Nature Center
