It’s May and flowers are in full bloom.  Now that it’s warmer, we can leave the house to explore what NJ has to offer (or not, you do you). If you’re looking for something to do… I got you. Here are my top fifteen picks for May 13 – 15, 2022.

Beer BBQ Bacon Showdown
May 14, 12PM – 5PM

New Jersey’s first festival, featuring only New Jersey Beer, coupled with restaurants, gourmet food trucks & Chefs, offering a delectable array of mouth watering BBQ & Bacon creations, all available for purchase. There will be a competition to showcase their culinary skills, with a panel of celebrity judges choosing the best of the best, along with People’s Choice awards for Best Dish & Best Beer. 30 New Jersey Breweries will be in attendance, each bringing 3 styles of Beer. One of these styles will be either a rare Beer or a Brew created specifically for this event. The event will take place outdoors and under tents, with some fantastic Music!

Annual St. George Greek Orthodox Church Festival
May 12-15
The St. George Greek Orthodox Church celebrates its Greek culture by hosting a Greek Festival every year during the month of May. During the Festival, the community showcases its Greek spirit by providing the surrounding towns with an event filled with delicious food, live entertainment, and dancing. Back in person for 2022! Take-out options are available.

Exit Zero Jazz Festival
May 13-15
The 2022 Spring Exit Zero Jazz Festival is a 3-day musical feast featuring hundreds of musicians and thousands of visitors. Exit Zero Jazz presents international touring artists performing on 2 outdoor stages on the beautiful grounds of Exit Zero Ferry Park overlooking the Delaware Bay. Each night, the musical feast continues with Fest shows in the bars and restaurants of Cape May. You might find yourself one-minute second-lining to a New Orleans brass band, and, in the next, snaking through town behind a 22-piece Brazilian drum bloco. The joy of the Exit Zero Jazz Festival is in the discovery of incredible music and musicians you may never have known existed. Check out headliners like Mingus Big Band, Marcus Miller, Arturo Sandoval, and more on stage each day from 11 AM – 7 PM.

Ocean City Spring Block Party

Spring is here, and it’s time to celebrate. There will be over 350 crafters, food vendors, music, and fun for the whole family.

Mullica Hill Arts and Crafts Festival

Milltown Multicultural Festival
May 14, 12PM – 5PM

The Milltown IDEA is hosting a Multicultural Festival at the Gloria Bradford Borough Park on Saturday, May 14th, 2022, between the hours of 12pm-5pm. There will be a number of guest performances, shop vendors, and speakers representing a range of diverse groups including Native American/Indigenous, Black and African, AAPI, Latinx cultures along with members of the LBTQ+ community and other underrepresented groups. There will be a host of activities to participate in such as community roundtables, art demonstrations, and activities hosted by local organizations. Should you get hungry while attending the festival, stop by any of the multiple foods and dessert trucks/stations onsite.

Brew By the Bay
May 14, 12PM – 6PM (May 15th Rain date)

The tasting takes place on the picturesque waterfront; tickets are $35.00 and include seven 4oz. tastings and a pint of craft beer and a commemorative pilsner cup (for the first 300 registered). Additional tastings can be purchased at the event for $3. Participating breweries include Belford Brewing Co., Jughandle Brewing Co., Jersey Cyclone Brewing Co., Toms River Brewing, Yale Terrace Brewery, Last Wave Brewing Co., South 40 Brewing Co., Icarus Brewing, Ross Brewing Co., Carton Brewing, Ghost Hawk Brewing Co., Bradley Brew Project, and Battle River Brewing, to name a few. Each participating brewery will bring two styles of beer. There will be live music, fire pits, and delicious Local Smoke cuisine.

Bloom Festival Saturday
May 14, 12PM – 5PM

Bring your family and friends to spend the day by the lake enjoying live music, fresh food, and your favorite Autumn Lake wine. Beginning at 1:00 PM, Autumn Lake is excited to welcome Grass n Gravel to the stage. Bringing listeners on a distinctive sonic journey where alt country, rooms/jam rock and folk converge. Food will be available for purchase. Food will be provided by Big Papa Jai’s, Buon Viaggio Pizza and Mary’s Mobile Diner.

Rhythm & Brews 2022
May 14, 3PM – 9PM

The Rhythm returns, and the Brews too.. LOCAL Music -LOCAL Artisans -LOCAL Food and -LOCAL Brews. This kick-ass Music Festival takes place on Station Ave. in super HIP, historic downtown Haddon Heights! The 500 and 600 block of Station Ave. will be open to “FOOT TRAFFIC ONLY” for this event! A stage will be set for Music and additional music will be added in random places on the ave. The avenue will be lined with libations-Food Trucks- Live performances-and festival lovers. Cups/tickets can be purchased at the door day of. One dollar from each cup sold will go to Pediatric Cancer awareness.

Asbury Park Vegan Food Festival
May 14 & 15, 11AM – 5PM (This event is rain or shine)

This two-day celebration features yummy vegan and plant-based meals from local chefs, as well as vegan products, plant-based fashion, live music and good times.

Waretown Wine in the Pines
May 14 & 15, 12PM – 5PM

Corliss Recreation Area will host the Wine in the Pines Waretown festival May 14 and 15. Dozens of fine wines from some of New Jersey’s leading wineries will be available for sampling, along with vendors and food. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs to sit and enjoy live music Saturday from The Ned Ryerson Band; on Sunday Acoustic NRG will perform.

Arts in Bloom
May 14 & 15, 10AM – 5PM

Arts in Bloom is an event where artists from all over Salem County come together to share their studios with the public for a two-day, county-wide event. “Salem County Arts in Bloom”, the free two-day art event spans many locations throughout Salem County, NJ (towns such as Alloway, Canton, Elmer, Elsinboro, Lower Alloways Creek, Monroeville, Pedricktown, Pennsville, Pittsgrove, Salem, and Woodstown). Guests enjoy open studio and gallery tours featuring local artists, with activities including pottery demonstrations, painting, fiber arts, puppetry, and much more. Some tours will be in-person following social distancing guidelines, and others will be virtual.

Smithville Mayfest
May 14 & 15, 10AM – 5PM

Mayfest at Historical Smithville offers an abundance of family fun! There will be more than 100 juried crafters and vendors, an international food court, children’s activities, nonprofit organizations and live entertainment.
