New Jersey Events Labor Day Weekend 2024

August is coming to a close, and September is here which means it must be Labor Day Weekend! Here’s your guide to New Jersey events from August 30 – September 2. Whether you’re into street fairs, food truck festivals, or free events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. PLUS you can find NJIB at LSC After Dark on Thrusday as well as the Frenchtown Riverfest on Sunday.

Established in 2004… Riverfest is a street fair celebration of life along the river! Stroll Bridge Street and Sunbeam Park for a fun filled day of live music, art, food, family-friendly activities, and paper boat races with the Frenchtown Vikings, all with an ecologically and sustainability focused lens. Airfest

Airfest offers a captivating blend of aviation and entertainment, featuring museum entrance, a beer and wine garden, and a diverse array of vendors and exhibitors. Attendees can enjoy delicious offerings from food trucks, watch face painting and caricature sessions, and listen to lively musical entertainment. The event includes an impressive display of aircraft, daily fly-ins, and engaging aviation presentations. Highlights also feature a 1940s radio show, reenactments, and various interactive experiences, making it an exciting day out for aviation enthusiasts and families alike.

Glassboro Car Show & Food Truck Festival
August 30, 5 pm – 9 pm

The 19th Annual Glassboro Car Show & Food Truck Festival rolls into Downtown Glassboro on August 30, 2024. This free, family-friendly event is set to attract thousands of car enthusiasts who can admire over 300 vehicles while enjoying live music and a variety of local food trucks. With ample free parking and dedicated signage and attendants to guide attendees, the event ensures a smooth experience for all. The car show and festival will take place rain or shine, offering something for every gearhead and casual admirer alike.

Honoring the Blank Yankees: Somerset Patriots vs. Reading Fightin Phils 
August 30, 5:45 pm

Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM) is proud to announce its 2nd annual partnership with the Somerset Patriots for a fundraising event honoring the legacy of the New York Black Yankees and the Negro Leagues. This event will occur at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday, August 30th, featuring a special game between the Somerset Patriots (NYY) and the Reading Fightin’ Phils (PHI). The Somerset Patriots will pay tribute to the Negro Leagues by donning special uniforms commemorating the New York Black Yankees and will feature the SSAAM logo. These unique player-worn jerseys will be available for live auction, with all proceeds supporting SSAAM’s mission of preserving African American history and culture.

Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival
August 30 – September 1

This family music festival features southern Appalachian old-time and bluegrass and related music styles. For kids, there is also a Children’s Stage. The festival site has plenty of room for camping for tenters as well as RVers, and unlike many other festivals, they do not charge extra for camping. Weekend ticket holders may camp on the grounds at no charge, but camping is available only to weekend ticket holders – daily ticket holders may not bring vehicles or camping gear into the campground.

West Cape May Tomato Festival
August 31, 9 am – 4 pm

This themed festival will celebrate all things tomato, featuring farm-fresh tomatoes, handmade tomato-themed products, and tomato-inspired dishes. This year introduces the festival’s first Tomato Contest.Proceeds from this quirky event will benefit the WCM Shade Tree Commission, supporting their efforts to protect and enhance the tree canopy in West Cape May. Attendees are encouraged to come out and enjoy the community spirit.

Keyport Music and Food Truck FEASTival
August 31, 11 am – 8 pm

Kick off Labor Day Weekend at the Keyport Music and Food Truck FEASTival on Saturday, August 31st at the scenic Waterfront Park. The event will feature 17 food trucks serving a variety of options from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, including Angry Archies, Big John’s Gourmet Burgers, and Cold Stone Creamery, among others. Attendees can enjoy live music from Fish Eyed Blues at 11 am, Soul Seduction at 2 pm, and Rosewood at 5 pm. The festival also offers a Beer/Sangria and Margarita garden for adults, vendors, and numerous kids’ activities such as bungee trampolines, face painting, and a petting zoo. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy a day in the sun.

Fall Flower Festival & Craft Market
August 31 and September 1

The Fall Flower Festival & Craft Market will take place on Saturday, August 31, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday, September 1, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This event offers two full days of activities, including free informative lectures and presentations, tours of the spectacular gardens, and a craft market featuring a wide selection of curated vendors and food, brought in partnership with Marketspace Vendor Events. Admission and parking are free, and the event will be held rain or shine.

NJ Clearwater Festival
August 31 & September 1

The NJ Friends of Clearwater Festival returns to Asbury Park for its 49th Annual event on Saturday, August 31, 2024 (1-8 pm) and Sunday, September 1, 2024 (noon-5 pm). This two-day, open-air music festival celebrates the collective effort to protect the environment, serving as a key networking hub in New Jersey for environmental ideas and initiatives. Attendees can enjoy performances on two music stages featuring top folk and rock acts, browse crafts and green vendors, engage with enviro-activists, savor food from various trucks, and participate in special activities for children and discussion round-tables. The festival upholds the spirit of fellowship and song pioneered by Pete Seeger over 50 years ago, combining fun, inspiration, and education.

BBQ & Craft Beer Festival
August 31 – September 2

The annual BBQ & Craft Beer Festival returns to Monmouth Park this Labor Day weekend for three days of delicious BBQ and craft beer. Attendees can savor over 40 craft beers brewed in New Jersey and enjoy a variety of BBQ favorites, including ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. Food trucks will start serving around 11 am, and beer garden sampling tickets are available for $15, which includes 10 two-ounce samples. Sampling runs from 11:30 am to 5 pm, with ticket sales and check-in from 11:30 am to 4 pm; day-of ticket purchases are cash only. Live music will entertain from 12 to 4 pm each day, and on Saturday and Sunday, families can enjoy free activities such as clowns, face painting, pony rides, and a bounce house from 12 to 4 pm in the picnic area. Tickets for general admission and sampling can be purchased in advance at seatgeek.com/monmouth to save 15%.

Clifton Food and Music Festival
September 1, 11 am – 7 pm

The Clifton Food and Music Festival will take place on Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The event will feature a variety of food trucks, live bands, a beer and wine garden, vendors, and a children’s fun zone. Admission is $5 per person, while children 36 inches and under can enter for free. Proceeds will benefit the Clifton Veterans Committee, supporting events like the Veterans Day Parade. Free parking is available at the venue.

Maplewood Porchfest
September 1, 1 pm – 5 pm. Rain Date September 2

Maplewood Porchfest 2024 is scheduled for Sunday September 1 from 1-5 PM (rain date September 2). This free event will feature numerous porches around the Hilton neighborhood of Maplewood with a wide array of music and entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Riverdale’s Annual Labor Day Street Fair
September 2, 10 am – 5 pm

Riverdale’s Annual Labor Day Street Fair hosted by the Borough of Riverdale will be held along the Newark Pompton Turnpike from Newbury Place to Cotluss Rd. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This annual event is held on Labor Day Monday. The street will be closed to vehicle traffic during the event and will be transformed into a giant block party. If you like shopping outdoors then this is the place to be. Quality exhibitors selling a selection of assorted items, a special arts & crafts section, live entertainment, kiddie rides & games, great festival foods & food trucks, and so much more.
