New Jersey Diner Review #294: Diamond Diner and Restaurant
While meeting a friend in South Jersey, we decided to dine at the Diamond Diner in Hainsesport, NJ. Located on Route 38, you can’t miss the diner once you see the giant diamond on top.
The diner has been under new management since 2017. Since then the diner reviews on yelp have fairly positive! I was looking forward to making my own judgement about this diner.
Their menu was fairly typical; omelettes, sandwiches, salads, burgers etc. Nothing truly stood out, except for their many cheese steaks and various Italian options. I also hear they make a very good Manhattan Clam Chowder.
The Diamond Diner also offers “Super Saves” daily which are meals that include soup, salad bar, two vegetables, and choice of dessert. Their you can eat salad bar with soup, which is a nice touch. It’s also very popular, so if you come at a peak time you may not get too many options from it.
Since I was there for lunch I got one of their very reasonably priced lunch specials which included soup or salad (or both depending on what your ordered).
I started with a split pea soup, which was delicious.
And ended with spinach ravioli, which I admit did not make the prettiest picture but was very tasty (and filling!).
My friend got the lox platter which came with A LOT of food. I was really impressed.
Their dessert counter also looked very impressive but I resisted…this time.
