Happy National Aquarium Month! Enjoy these 5 New Jersey Aquariums
Happy National Aquarium Month (yes, it’s a thing)! In New Jersey, we have a great variety of aquariums that feature sharks, penguins, and octopus…oh my! Below is a full list of aquariums that are great to visit year-round.
Five New Jersey Aquariums to Visit:
Adventure Aquarium – Camden
Open 365 days a year, Adventure Aquarium continues to offer new opportunities for families to explore, discover and play. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning guest, you can count on new hands-on activities, new animals and exhibits, and new moments of magic. Check out KidZone, an enchanting playground “under the sea,” and experience seven different touch exhibits to get up close and personal with sharks, stingrays, and more. Adventure Aquarium is the only aquarium in the world where you can see hippos nose-to-nose, and the only aquarium in the country to feature a Great Hammerhead Shark – among the largest and rarest of sharks! Add two million gallons of fun, a 40-foot suspended Shark Tunnel, a 4D Theater (sponsored by PSE&G) and free live shows and up-close animal experiences daily, and it’s clear to see why a trip to Adventure Aquarium promises to deliver family memories that will last a lifetime.

Jenkinson’s Aquarium – Point Pleasant
Jenkinson’s Aquarium is a privately owned facility located on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. The aquarium is dedicated to educating the public on all aspects of marine life and conservation. Each exhibit is designed to promote awareness of the animals, their habitats, and their conservation. Exhibits such as Atlantic sharks, Pacific sharks, coral reefs, penguins, alligators, and seals give you the opportunity to get up close to animals from around the globe. Another attraction, the touch tank, allows visitors to touch live animals ranging from a sea star to a stingray!

Sea Life Aquarium – East Rutherford
New Jersey’s SEA LIFE® Aquarium is home to more than 3,000 creatures with approximately 100 different species. These include sharks, an octopus, stingrays, eels, seahorses, jellyfish, piranhas, and more. The aquarium stands out by being a family aquarium that delivers a fun and entertaining day out to all guests through “wow” displays and hands-on, interactive experiences. I personally enjoyed their touch screens that gave me insight into all the creatures featured in each tank. The aquarium’s leading exhibit is the 186,000-gallon ocean tank. The ocean tank features an underwater tunnel with panoramic views of ‘fishified’ Manhattan landmarks.

Seaquest Aquarium – Woodbridge
Exhibits in the aquarium range from visiting creatures from the Icelandic Fishing Village, the Great Wall of China, the Amazon River, and more. Animals and sea creatures of five different continents are represented at SeaQuest Woodbridge. Where else can you see tropical birds, porcupines, sharks, pigs, and a hairless guinea pigs in one place? Pricing for the aquarium is reasonable, with the option to add on experiences like feeding animals, swimming with the stingrays, etc. I highly recommend their VIP experience which includes the string ray tank, feeding Flash the sloth, and feeding their two Asian Otters.
