The New Heritage Diner in Hackensack: Review
The New Heritage Diner, located in Hackensack, is your typically average New Jersey diner. It’s cute, it’s clean, the decor needs some updating, and the food is affordable.
Open 24 hours, the New Heritage Diner offers your favorite diner classics ranging from breakfast all day, sandwiches, a big list of salads, unique burgers, and big entrees that you can barely finish in one sitting. They also have a section on their menu called “Forkin Good Fries”, which are fries that are basically it’s own meal. Pepperoni pizza fries anyone?
If you’re hankering for a cocktail, the diner also offers a full bar with mixed drinks including Pina Coladas. Mmmm…
Their dinner specials, which included the salad bar and soup, were priced very reasonably so I decided to get one of those despite the fact that I came in not very hungry.
Their salad bar is pretty standard. Lettuce, tomatoes, a few pasta salads, beets. I got a pretty small, boring salad:
For my soup I got matzoh ball, which I heard is something they are known for. I will say that it was very, very good.
For my entree I got something I had never seen on a diner menu before…eggplant ravioli!
Although it was smothered in sauce (and the sauce was quite good), the meal was very good. Now I can say I’ve had eggplant ravioli too.
If you’re looking for an average and affordable diner, the New Heritage diner may be what you’re looking for! Although it was not the most interesting diner I’ve been to, I can still give it a positive review.
