Lunar Faire Brings ‘Fairy/tales’ to Freehold on May 16

f you’ve ever wanted to trade your reality for a storybook, your chance arrives this Saturday. The Lunar Faire Night Market is fluttering into the East Freehold Showgrounds on May 16th, bringing with it a whimsical, witchy, and slightly chaotic celebration of all things magical.

The theme for this stop is “Fairy/tales,” creating a playful “Theme Duel” between traditional iridescent faeries and the grimmer characters of storybook lore. Organizers encourage attendees to lean into the fantasy: whether you show up as a “nightmare pixie” in goth fairy wings or a “Grimm Reaper” ready to steal stories, the night is a curated space for self-expression and finding your “found family.”

What to Expect
Running from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the faire is much more than a market. While there will be plenty of “weird and witchy” vendors selling oddball wares and curious crafts, the event is packed with immersive attractions:
– The Fairy Float Parade & Hut Contest: Witness a procession of magical displays or enter your own fairy dwelling.
– Live Storytelling: Gather around for a dedicated story hour with a live narrator.
– Enchanting Entertainment: The night features fire dancing by Diiiotima, a drag show, a “tap-dancing medium,” and the infamous “Big 3 Roasts” by Doctor Witch, the astrological heckler.
– Interactive Magic: Join the Lunar Queene for group spellmaking, participate in trinket trading, or visit the (non-alcoholic) Potions Lab for a sparkly brew.

Plan Your Visit
The event is all-ages and designed to be a safe, inclusive environment. To get the full experience, visitors are encouraged to bring a flashlight (some areas get dark!), a blanket or chair for resting, and their most creative light-up garb.
