LBI FLY International Kite Festival Returns for its Third and Biggest Year this Weekend

The LBI FLY International Kite Festival is returning October 6th-9th for the third year in a row – the biggest planned so far – with a four-day, kite-filled, and island-wide schedule.Kiters from all around the globe will be flying artist kites, giant inflatable kites, and demonstrating sport kite flying techniques on local Ship Bottom beaches during the KiteFestival weekend October 6th through the 9th, 2017.

Lisa Willoughby, LBI FLY Kite Ambassador and Master Level Sport Kite Pilot, has organized professional kiters from Australia, Germany, Canada, and the USA. “We will have at least ten national champion kite fliers on our beaches for the festival this year” said Lisa Willoughby, on the scheduled roster of fliers. Featured kiters include Robert Brasington, an amazing International Kite Designer from Australia, Scott Weider, a national champion from the West Coast, and local South Jersey kite fliers will be attending as well.

There will be an Indoor Fly Competition, Bol Kite Racing, a Main Field for giant 3D Kites, an Art Market and Bazaar, an illuminated Night Fly, a Kite Battle, Buggy Kite Rides for Kids, and much more. All spectators are welcome at this event and admission to the day events are free. Night events (Indoor Fly Competition and Barnegat Light Night Fly) cost $2/per person.

Of the planning for this event, LBI FLY Event Director Calla Aniski said, “This was my first year involved in the [LBI FLY] Kite Festival. I was welcomed into a team that consists of a handful of wonderfully committed individuals who have been working on fine-tuning this event for years.We would not have such a beautiful and expansive event without these people.” Come out and see this impressive weekend event October 6th through the 9th!
