My name is…Judge*: Judging at the Sea Isle City Food Truck Festival
Last weekend I was extremely fortunate and honored to be one of the judges at the Sea Isle City Food Truck Festival. This was the third year of the festival held in September at Kix McNulty’s in Sea Isle City. The event featured 15 food trucks from NJ, PA, and NY as well as local vendors.
There were 4 awards for the event: Best Hand Held, Best Entree, Best Sweet Treat, and Best Overall. There was also a People’s Choice Award, where customers put in a dollar for their favorite food truck. The proceeds, which was over $1,000 by the end of the weekend, raised money for the family of the Atlantic City Police Officer who was shot a couple of weeks back.
To avoid nepotism or any pre-judgement, we did not know which food came from which food truck and we didn’t rate them until we ate from EVERY truck.
The 15 Food Trucks that were in attendance were House of Cupcakes, My Four Suns, Marie’s Seafood , Kix Yum Yum Wagon, The Empanada Sonata, Shore Shake, Eat-A-Pita, Philly ,Waffle de Lys, Five Sisters Catering, Chick’nCone, Luigi’s Ice Cream, Philly Fry, Nick’s Roast Beef, Zinna’s Mobile Bistro, and Baby Blues BBQ Philadelphia.
I got to try some amazing and interesting food…including a donut burger which I found out came from the Yum Yum Wagon…
One of the best ice cream sandwiches I’ve ever had from Luigi’s Ice Cream…
A very fresh Lobster Roll from Marie’s Seafood…
and some amazing fries from Philly Fry.
Oh yeah, and I got to eat not one, but two things in a cone.
All 15 food trucks were incredible and I’m thrilled I got to try food from all of them!
The Kix McNutley’s SideKix Lincoln Grill won People’s Choice Award. Luigi’s Ice Cream won Best Sweet Treat. Eat-A-Pita, Philly defended the title for Best Hand Held. My Four Suns won Best Entree, and Baby Blues BBQ Philadelphia won Best Overall.
The Yum Yum Wagon took home the award for most raised at over $200.
