Happy National Hot Dog Day! 30+ Iconic New Jersey Hot Dog Spots

Celebrate National Hot Dog Day with enthusiasm! (Don’t forget, it’s also National Hot Dog Month.) For all the hot dog enthusiasts out there, I’ve curated a comprehensive compilation of the finest hot dog joints in New Jersey.

New Jersey Hot Dogs come in a wide array of hot dog variations, including the famous “Hot Texas Weiner” that originated in Paterson in 1924. Former employees of the original stand went on to open their own establishments, such as the renowned Falls View Grill and subsequent hot dog joints like The Colonial Grill and the Hot Grill. Another North Jersey favorite is the Italian Hot Dog, introduced by Jimmy Buff’s in Newark over 75 years ago, featuring pizza bread quarters filled with deep-fried hot dogs, onions, peppers, and fried potatoes. Lastly, the Clifton-based “ripper” hot dog was created in 1928 at Rutt’s Hutt, known for its pork and beef hot dog that’s deep-fried until it splits.

From the iconic to the popular, unique to classic, this list covers it all. Make sure to browse through till the end as the entries are organized alphabetically.
