NJ Camp Fair

For 2023, NJ Camp Fairs, along with the American Camp Association, will have an exciting lineup of summer camp fairs for NJ families. There will be 7 camp fairs servicing Northern and Central New Jersey communities. This is a free educational resource, providing families an opportunity to meet face to face with a several high quality camps from various locations all under one roof. Tap the Sugar Maples
February 4, starting at 10:30AM

Hundreds of sugar maple trees line the banks of Moore’s Creek and the nearby woods at the foot of Baldpate Mountain. Each year in February farmers begin the annual work of sap collection and maple syrup production.

Old Dutch New Year “Candlemas” Winter Walk
February 4, 2PM

Get outdoors on a February afternoon with a winter walk along historic Somerville’s Peters Brook Greenway and Main Street with brief stops for historical storytelling. You’ll start with placing Washington’s Headquarters Flags at two stone markers recalling George Washington’s passage through the area in early January 1777 and return for a brief festive open house at Old Dutch Parsonage as the winter sun sets.Dress for the weather, wear sturdy footwear and bring water.

Winery with Music, Firepits & Mulled Wine
February 4 & 5, 11 & 12, 18  & 19, 25 & 26, 12PM – 5PM
Join for a chance to gather with friends, and family. This winter Terhune Orchards winery will be open Saturdays & Sundays with indoor and outdoor seating. Seasonal hot mulled wine is a wonderful way to warm up. Sample a variety of wines in tasting flights or enjoy wine by the glass. Fire pits will be going all weekend. Bring your glasses and enjoy them fireside. Light fare is available. All ages can enjoy s’more kits and hot cocoa. Families are welcome. No reservations are needed, maximum group of 8 guests.

Volunteers Needed for Beach Cleanup At The Tip of Sandy Hook, NJ

Join members of Save Coastal WIldlife Nonprofit as we clean up and restore the tip of Sandy Hook. This area is often filled with trash and debris that has drifted southward from New York City. This area is an important nesting location for endangered Piping Plover, Black Skimmer, and Least Tern, as well as American Oystercatchers. The more volunteers that register, the more tiny plastic debris and other trash items can be removed to help save coastal wildlife along the northern Jersey Shore

Old-Fashioned Valentine’s Day at Howell Living History Farm

The air may be chilly, but the farm’s wintery landscape is the perfect setting for a heartwarming Valentine’s Day ride. Couples can take a romantic spin in a two-seater sleigh or carriage pulled by a team of light workhorses. Families can ride in a bobsled or hay wagon pulled by a handsome team of drafts. No matter the hitch, the horses will be wearing their finest bells. At the farmhouse there will be soup on the stove, and a children’s craft program from 11 to 3 p.m. for a small materials fee.

George Washington – 1778 Battle of Monmouth
February 19, 2PM

This event features a minute-by-minute accounting of George Washington’s actions during the June 28, 1778 Battle of Monmouth. The Battle of Monmouth was the longest continuous battle of the Revolutionary War. It took place here on a brutally hot summer day.

Presidents Day – Whitesbog Historic Village Tours, Hike, & Scavenger Hunt
February 20, 10AM – 1PM

Tour the Cranberry & Blueberry Farm Museum, and explore the farm tools, barrels, crates, blueberry and cranberry sorters and advertisements from the local Pine Barrens industry. Check out the historical photos and artifacts in the huge, barn building. 12 pm Winter Hike with PINES education team, they will keep an eye on the weather, please dress for mud, ice, snow, rain, etc. Short 30 minute to 1-hour walk depending on the group, all ages welcome. Cottage Tours: Visit the historic cottages and walk through the houses with 4 front doors! Visitors are encouraged to take pictures!
