The Forked River Diner: Review

I’m always a big fan of a classic, original New Jersey Diner (ie Mustache Bill’s in LBI, Roadside Diner in Wall), so I was thrilled to visit the Forked River Diner located on Main St in Forked River, NJ (Ocean County).

First thing you need to know about the diner is that it’s CASH ONLY, however if you don’t have cash on you…there is an ATM on the premises. The second thing you need to know is that the Forked River Diner has extremely affordable giant meals, so your cash will be well spent.

I was kind of in love with the decor of the diner, from it’s chrome interior and green aesthetic. It was very old school, almost like it came from the 1950s and had never been touched.

As far as their food, their menu is pretty diner standard. However they do have a lot of dinner options that are only served after 3pm…so that kind of puts a dent in your decision making if you’re there for lunch. Their lunch menu included lots of sandwiches, “Real Beef” burgers that are 5 or 10 ounces, and homemade desserts.

I decided to get a chicken quesadilla, which came with a side of potato chips (which I found odd). This very hefty meal cost me a whole $6.50…which was an amazing bargain. The quesadilla was stuffed with American and Cheddar cheese, peppers and onions. They also offer a “Cheeseburger Quesadilla” which I can’t say I’ve seen on a menu before.

My husband and dining partner decided to get scrambled eggs (something he orders 75% of them time we go to diners) with pork roll. I was amazed how much food came on his plate!! This meal only cost him a whopping $6.75. So a pretty cheap meal all around.

I really enjoyed my trip to the Forked River Diner so much that they are now one of my favorites that I’ve been to! Extra bonus, they sell their own logo t-shirts. How fun is that?
