Forgotten Boardwalk Brewing Hosts Organ Donation Awareness Event on Feb 5
On Saturday, February 5th, 2022, Forgotten Boardwalk Brewing will be holding its annual charity event to raise awareness about the benefits of organ donation. “The Spice of Life” was first created by the brewery in 2014 to commemorate the anniversary of Forgotten Boardwalk’s own Seth Dolled’s living kidney donation to his mother Sharon.
This year marks the 16th Anniversary of the successful donation. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go towards The National Kidney Foundation as well as The Gift of Life Donor Program, which will both be on-site to help those wanting to register as organ donors.
This event will have their once-a-year fan-favorite brew, Lady #8 (Our What the Butler Saw brewed with Watermelon, Basil & Spiced with a blend of spicy peppers) – available on draft and in 16oz four-pack cans.

In an effort to bring awareness to a new audience, Forgotten Boardwalk teamed up with the Asbury Park Punk Rock Flea Market and will host a multi-vendor showcase with mostly vinyl records, but if that’s not your jam there will also be other items ranging from concert photos, band-related t-shirts, custom guitar pedals and more.
Coinciding with the music theme, Forgotten Boardwalk will be releasing another new beer from its Music Inspired series – The Johnny – a Tart Rose Ale brewed with strawberries, raspberries, hibiscus, rose petals & hips inspired by the talented musician and artist, St. Vincent.
Forgotten Boardwalk’s music-inspired beers have artwork that pays homage to the artist, and this one is no different. Taking a theme from all of her albums and the re-appearing character, Johnny, a dance was inspired based on lyrics from the song ‘Pay Your Way in Pain’ from the St. Vincent album, Daddy’s Home. “Now everyone can do The Johnny! You got to Sit Down, Stand Up, Head Down, Hands Up before you can Sit Down, Stand Up, Head Down, Break Down!”
Another reason to celebrate this year is New Jersey’s Living Donor Protection Act (A3199/S2315) was signed into law and is now featured on display in the tasting room, signed by Governor Phil Murphy.
This Act helps to protect all living organ donors — people we consider heroes. This bill ensures that life, long-term care, and disability insurers will not discriminate against living organ donors through policy conditions, acceptance, or pricing based solely on the person’s status as a living organ donor. Special thanks to Assemblywoman Carol Murphy and Jason Nothdurft for their help and presentation of the signed bill last summer.
