Jersey Collective Photography Exhibition – June 6
Jersey Collective, a collaborative New Jersey Instagram project, is holding a photography exhibition at Cowerks in Asbury Park on Saturday, June 6, 2015. The show will be a celebration of the first year of the project. Jersey Collective, founded by Kerri Sullivan of Monmouth County, began in March 2014. Sullivan approached the New Jersey Instagram community with a fresh idea: create one New Jersey-centric Instagram account and have a different photographer (anyone from a professional to an amateur with a smartphone) take over the account each week. Each photographer was given the freedom to post as they wish, as long as the photos were taken in New Jersey. The first year of the project was a success. The show, opening on June 6, will feature one printed image from each week of Jersey Collective’s first year, from March 2014-2015. That’s 53 images, work from all four seasons, and images that showcase every corner of the Garden State. Fifty photographers (ranging in age from 13 to 40) were part of Jersey Collective’s first year, and most will be in attendance at the opening. The event will run from 6:00-10:00pm. “There hasn’t been anything like this before and we’re so excited to bring you this event,” Sullivan said on her website. Hosting the exhibition in Asbury Park is ideal, as the opening will take place on a First Saturday in a town that is a hub of artistic expression in New Jersey.
Date: Saturday, June 6th, 2015; 6pm to 10pm
Address: Cowerks, 619 Lake Avenue, Asbury Park
Cost: Free
