Empress Diner in Fair Lawn, New Jersey: Review
Located on River Road in Fair Lawn, the Empress Diner is one of the many diners that populates Bergen County…my toughest list of make a dent on.
The Empress Diner is a family run diner around that has been around since 1965! They are open 24 hours a day, have a full bar(with a lot to choose from), and even offer delivery!
They offer your typical diner fare including breakfast all day, homemade soups, LOTS of sandwiches, specialty burgers, lots of Greek options, and even a Jack Daniel’s Bourbon Barbeque Pit. They really have a lot to choose from.
I came into the diner not feeling any hungry, and I was flying solo. Since I’m not from the area, I felt I still needed to stop and check them out. Because of my situation I went to my “go to” not hungry meal…a chicken salad sandwich.
I feel a chicken salad sandwich is a good way to judge a diner. Sometimes they have way too much mayo, too little chicken, weird veggies etc. I have never had the same chicken salad twice at a New Jersey Diner. Good thing this sandwich was fantastic, and the rye bread was fresh.
Other things I enjoyed about the diner was their commitment to the seasons. I went in late Fall and they were fully decked out for Halloween.
They also have free to-go cookies at the register, which is one of my favorite diner bonuses.
Overall the Empress Diner has lots of choose from, semi affordable prices, friendly service, and a great family friendly vibe!
