Diner Round Up – Raceway Diner in West Long Branch
While my husband and I had an unsuccessful shopping trip in West Long Branch, we decided to go to the Raceway diner which is located on Route 36 in West Long Branch.
The diner got its name by being close to the racetrack and there is various horse stuff throughout the small diner.
We got there around 5:30pm and had the diner to ourselves with the exception of our waitress, the owner, and three other older gentleman who were watching a classic black and white movie on the TV by the kitchen. It was a little odd. People did start coming in around 6pm though so we didn’t feel as awkward.
I heard their breakfast is amazing (after we left) so I got a dinner special since they were all really good deals. I got a spinach pie with grilled chicken which came with soup, salad and dessert. I ended up getting split pea soup to switch it up a bit, especially since it was vegetarian split pea which is pretty rare.
However my “Caesar” salad was just lettuce with croutons and Caesar dressing. It was weird.
My actual meal was pretty good too. Even if though the presentation wasn’t anything to write home about…
I ended my meal with rice pudding (no picture, sorry) and left very, very full.
Overall, there are a lot of diners in the area but if you happen to go to the Raceway Diner I think you’ll enjoy your meal. Maybe you should order the breakfast.
