Diner Round Up – Phoenix Diner in Absecon
The Phoenix Diner is a popular spot for travelers who are leaving Atlantic City. I was one of those travelers at the time I visited.
I hadn’t been there in a long time, but I had fond memories. Especially since I remember they had really interesting omelettes. Last time I was there (which was probably 3 years ago) I got a chicken cheesesteak omelette.
One of the things I dig about the diner is that it is 24 hours. That is perfect for someone who has spent all night gambling and needs somewhere to go at 3am.
Because I was feeling nostalgic about the omelettes, I ended up getting a seafood omelette which was shrimp and crab:
It was good, but it was not filling. Also, there wasn’t that much seafood in it. Because I ordered it as an egg white omelette it ended up costing me close to $11. Yikes. This also doesn’t really have to do with the fact that it was seafood since all the omelettes were around this price. I also asked for my toast to be dry, and it ended up being soaked in butter. It wasn’t the end of the world, so I didn’t send it back, but it was disappointing. I will say that the home fries were really good, and I definitely got a lot of them!
The majority of their menu prices were a little bit more than they should have been. I don’t know if that’s because of it’s proximity to AC or what…but I definitely missed my average priced diner food.
I definitely remember having a better meal and overall experience the last time I went. Having said that, I still enjoyed my meal and was tempted on getting one of there many homemade desserts to take home.
