Diner Round Up – Henry’s Diner in Piscataway
Henry’s Diner, which is located in Piscataway, is right on Rutgers University’s Livingston campus. If you haven’t been to that campus yet, it used to be a parking lot.
Now it’s a great little area, with lots of shops and restaurants…including Henry’s Diner.
This cute little diner has a throwback vibe. I felt like I was back in the 50s. Because it’s meant for college students (but open to everyone) the wait staff is all students, and the prices are very reasonable. If a diner has great food and reasonable prices, then I am more likely to return.
I was hungry, so I started with a matzoh ball soup which came with a massive matzoh ball. SO good!
If you can tell from this photo, their menus look like newspapers! It’s such a cute idea. Definitely different!
My favorite part of this diner is that they have a create your own sandwich option, and this the first time I’ve seen a diner do that. Plus, it’s $8 which is an amazing deal.
I decided to get a little crazy and got eggplant, brie, and pesto on focaccia bread. Was it an awesome combo? Not particularly…but that shouldn’t be on the fault of the diner. That’s on me. Next time I go there, I will choose more wisely. Grilled chicken with garlic aioli on ciabatta sounds good…
I didn’t grab a dessert, but their dessert counter looked damnnnn good!
Don’t feel awkward about going to a “college diner”. It is open to the public and the food was really great. If you look like me, you’re almost 30 and you look like a college student anyway….
Check it out!
