Diner Review #281: The Monarch Diner in Glassboro
Located on Delsea Drive in the former spot of PBs Diner, sits the newly renovated Monarch Diner in Glassboro. With a full bar, eclectic menu, bakery and an outdoor patio this is a great South Jersey diner (and it’s close to Rowan University!).
They have a pretty big menu with lots of options. Items on their menu that stood out included:
– Crab Skins (crabmeat, bacon, cheddar cheese sauce, drizzled with chipotle mayo)
– Jumbo wings that come in flavors like BBQ, Honey BBQ, Inferno, and Garlic Parm
– A full list of gourmet salads including a Surf and Turf salad
– LOTS of vegan options with meatless meat options including burgers, meatballs and tofu
– Gluten free options including sandwiches made with their Gluten Free Cauliflower Bread
– A FULL list of gourmet burgers including the Canadian Northfolk Bison Burger
– Grease truck sandwiches including the “Big Fat Greek Sandwich” (cheese steak, gyro meat, chicken fingers, tzatziki sauce,crumbled feta cheese and French fries on a torpedo roll)
– Their chicken croquettes (a 45 year old recipe!)
– and their popular “Leaning Tower of Eggplant” (fried eggplant layered with fresh tomatoes,mozzarella cheese)

Their dessert case is impressive! They have lots of different flavored cheesecakes, tiramisu, oreo mousse cake, baklava, cannolis, macaroons, eclairs, and fruit pies like blueberry, apple, and lemon meringue.
I ordered their Monarch Crab Cake Sandwich, their famous crab cake fried on a kaiser roll with lettuce and tomato.
It was really good! It was very filling so I sadly did not have room for dessert.
Overall I thought this was a fun diner visit that had really great options for everyone!
