Coho Brewing Co: Crafting Delightful Brews in Cape May Courthouse
Welcome to Cape May Court House, a charming town nestled in the heart of New Jersey’s picturesque Cape May County. While the area is renowned for its pristine beaches and rich history, it also boasts several craft breweries for beer enthusiasts that include Coho Brewing Co.
Karen Buckingham, driven by her husband’s love for craft beer, embarked on a business venture instead of retiring. With a shared passion for enjoyment and the craft beer industry, they decided to open their own brewery.
After months of searching, Karen found the perfect location on Indian Trail Road in their hometown, Cape May Court House. Situated near Route 9 and a major road to the Wildwoods, the brewery is easily accessible to both locals and tourists.
With extensive experience in hospitality and Karen’s recent years of teaching, retirement didn’t quite suit her adventurous spirit. She is thrilled about the launch of COHO Brewing Co., named after its location in Court House and as a nod to the brewery’s Court House/Legal theme.
Coho Brewing offers a diverse range of beer styles, ensuring there’s something to please every palate. Whether you’re a fan of hop-forward IPAs, smooth and malty stouts, refreshing lagers, or experimental brews, you’ll find a wide selection to choose from. The brewery’s rotating tap list keeps visitors intrigued with new and exciting flavors, encouraging exploration and discovery.
Beyond their outstanding beers, Coho Brewing provides a warm and inviting taproom experience. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, making it the perfect spot to unwind with friends or strike up a conversation with fellow beer enthusiasts. Knowledgeable staff members are always ready to guide visitors through their beer offerings, providing insights into the brewing process and sharing stories behind each brew.
Their beer lineup features a variety of flavors to satisfy every palate. Crime Scene Lager is a pre-prohibition style lager with a smooth blend of American barley and corn, while Back the Blue Lager boldly supports the local police with its light, crisp taste and blue coloring. Mechanic & Main Pale Ale offers a Jersey-style experience with its hoppy profile and hints of melon, berry, and tropical fruit flavors. Shut Up! Karen Sour brings together cherry and almond in a milkshake-like sour, while Dubbel Jeopardy offers a Belgian-style dubbel with hints of raisin and caramel.
Belgian Tripel enthusiasts will appreciate the smooth, semi-sweet taste of Guilty By Association, while fans of hard seltzers can indulge in The Fuzz with its tangerine flavor.
Additionally, there are radlers available, including Baywatch Shandy, Green M & M Pale Ale, Sour Fuzz, and Bull Bailiff Porter. Specials for take-out only include Lethal Injection, Mischief Night, Judge’s Chambers, and Guilty By Association, all aged in various barrels. Lastly, there’s the Pending Litigation beer, Five-Oh Sour, a pineapple-infused delight with a tart and sweet profile.
If you’re not sure what to order, not only do beers come in flights but you can also order the “Jury Box” which offers 16 of their beers on tap for $25.
COHO Brewing Co. aims to provide a unique selection of beers in a relaxed environment, prioritizing the customer experience. Their goal is to not only deliver exceptional brews but also create a memorable overall experience for their patrons.
And they’re pet friendly too!
