Cape May Winery: Review
Cape May Winery is a great place to visit in Cape May, and you can visit them anytime! This winery has been open since 1995 and operates year round, 7 days a week. You can literally go down to Cape May at any point during the year and grab some fantastic wine.
The winery produces over 20 wines a year ranging from a dry to sweet using a variety or red and white wine as well as blends. They are the oldest operating winery in Cape May County. The last time I was there was seven years ago, and a lot had changed since the last time I was there.
I loved the atmosphere of the winery. It’s in a very pretty location and the interior is very cozy. We went during the Winter, and there was a lovely fireplace to sit by in their main tasting room.
A wine tasting will cost you $8 to try 5 different wines. Within that cost you also get keep your glass.
I decided to try a variety of what they offered:
– Cape May Red, their most popular wine. A medium bodied red wine
– Cape May Cabernet Franc, a spicy wine that gives the aroma of cloves, Strawberries, Black Pepper & Tannins
– Cape May Pinot Grigio, a light fruit white wine
– Isaac Smith Apple, a slightly sweet wine that tastes like fresh apples
– Isaac Smith Red Port, a rich red wine
Their wines were all fantastic, but I was blown away by their apple wine. Their red port was also amazing, and paired amazingly with chocolate.
If you love wine and you’re in the Cape May area, Cape May Winery should definitely be on your to do list!
