Bus Stop Diner in Carteret, NJ: Review
Located in a shopping center in Carteret, the Bus Stop Diner is a cool little hole in the wall diner that I discovered recently.
I arrived at the diner at a Tuesday afternoon, and the diner was packed at the counter! They definitely had a regular customer base. They had a cute somewhat retro diner theme as well which I enjoyed.
The diner offers all your typical diner fare plus some specialty sandwiches, their popular burgers, and a lot of seafood items. I ordered coffee while I mulled over the menu.
The Bus Stop Diner offers daily afternoon specials which are extremely affordable. The lunch specials come with soup and dessert as well which was exciting since I arrived at the diner very hungry.
The diner is known for their homemade soups, and they make four soups fresh daily in their kitchen. Since my lunch special came with soup, I enjoyed their onion soup which was one of their soups of the day.
For my entree I got the #18 which was a choice of a chicken or chili quesadilla (I chose chicken). This giant quesadilla is stuffed with onions, pepper, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, and comes with a side of guacamole.
On top of that the quesadilla also came with a side of fries or salad (not pictured). I ended up taking home half of my meal home as well as my dessert, bread pudding (also not pictured), which was more than enough for dinner later that night. For $11…this was a days worth of meals for a very cheap price.
If you’re looking for cheap eats right off the turnpike, the Bus Stop Diner is an excellent choice for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
