The Broadway Diner in South Amboy: Review

Looking for a cute breakfast diner spot that’s totally under the radar? Might I suggest the Broadway Diner, located in downtown South Amboy, New Jersey.

Located on Broadway, this cute downtown diner is the perfect spot for a quick meal. Like most downtown diners they don’t have their own parking lot, but there is plenty of street parking in the area.

My husband and I visited there for breakfast and were very pleased with our visit overall. For starters, the diner itself is fairly new, beautiful and clean. Although it’s a smaller diner, there is still plenty of seating including a cute breakfast counter.

They had a lot great options for breakfast, ranging from eggs to pancakes and everything in between. In addition to the standard breakfast options, they had more creative options like their Kielbasa omelet, “Egg in a Nest” (one fried egg nestled in Texas Toast), and the “Ellie Bellie Buster” made with eggs, pork roll, bacon, sausage, cheese, and homefries on a sub roll.

My husband got “The Boss”, which was French Toast, eggs, ham, bacon and sausage. Hopefully Springsteen would approve!

I opted for something simple, but it was still delicious. I got one egg, with really good home fries, and a side of turkey bacon.

Although we weren’t there for lunch time, dining options like their “Beef Richards” (cheesesteak with hot sauce on Texas toast), “Fire Sliders” (grilled chicken with bacon, onions, on cheddar cheese buns), “Fat Cat” sandwiches, and their hand formed burgers like the “Hangover”, “Drunken Onion”, and “Charlie’s Moldy Oldy” peaked my interest.

Another thing I loved about the diner was their games! Instead of people sitting on their cell phones, they can actually interact by playing small board games at the table. Such a great idea!

Something to keep in mind about the Broadway Diner is that they’re not 24-hours, and on some days are only open for breakfast and lunch. Definitely check their hours before visiting!

With great customer service and a hometown vibe, the Broadway Diner is definitely a diner I plan on visiting again!
