NJ Comic Book Shop Highlight: Amazing Heroes
It’s not always easy to find a place we fit in, let alone a place for geeks to hang out. You’re in luck because Amazing Heroes located in Union, NJ is the place for you. Amazing Heroes is a comic book and gaming store. As soon as you walk in you’re immersed in comic books and all things super heroes. The owner Steve is quick to welcome you, and offers assistance should help be needed. He’s like the superhero of Amazing Heroes!
There are tons of comic books and graphic novels for every genre, so it’s easy for anyone to find something there. Every Wednesday is New Comic Book Day, which means new releases, and the shelves are packed. It’s also a good spot for finding variant covers, or really rare comics like Amazing Spider-Man #121 the death of Gwen Stacy.
Amazing Heroes also has statues and memorabilia that will make any geek feel right at home. There are even vintage games like the old Star Wars Board Game! The array of collectibles is enough to give a nerd a heart attack. One great thing about this comic book store is that if you don’t see it in the shop, you can always ask if the staff can order it. They also have the option to order out of the Previews catalog, which is a nice bonus, especially if you want to pre-order an item before it’s released. For anyone who collects sports cards or other sport collectibles, Amazing Heroes has it all! There’s everything from baseball cards to signed bats and baseballs.
Another perk is that Amazing Heroes host weekly Magic the Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments. These trading card games are still popular, but most of all, the staff and players are great about helping new people join and learn the game. How cool is that? Every Friday night at 7pm is Magic the Gathering, and Sundays at 12pm is when Yu-Gi-Oh is hosted. A nice environment with fun and welcoming people, who could ask for anything more?
Amazing Heroes also participates in special nation-wide events like Free Comic Book Day, Halloween ComicFest, and Batman Day, to name a few. These events are usually once a year, as Free Comic Book Day is the first Saturday of May, and Halloween ComicFest is usually the last Saturday in October. Each event the store holds special sales, and has amazing giveaways like Free Comic Books! There’s something at Amazing Heroes for everyone. Whether you visit for a special event, or just a day trip to see a really fantastic comic book and game store, this is the place for you!
