Somerville Spooktacular – Oct 30
When it comes to Halloween, the Downtown Somerville knows how to have a devil of a good time! Our family-friendly Halloween events offer fiendish fun and spooky scares for everyone. Join the Downtown Somerville Alliance and our community partner, Empower Family Success Center for master pumpkin carving demonstrations, a free photo booth (thanks to Zen Image Studio), a Halloween scavenger hunt, DJ dance party, along with lots of treats and surprises!

Shannon Rose’s Punkin Chunkin and Halloween Party – Oct 30 & 31st
The Shannon Rose Irish Pub locations in Clifton and Ramsey will host a Punkin Chunkin Competition on Friday, October 30 at 6:00PM, where participants are challenged to launch their pumpkin as far as possible within a designated area known as the “Chunkin Patch” for a chance to win great prizes, including tickets to a professional football game, flat screen TV and more, while raising funds for a worthy cause. Guests can reserve pumpkins (which are limited!) in advance for a cost of $10, and proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
On Halloween, guests are invited to grab their best ghoul-friend and boogie on over to The Shannon Rose Irish Pub for its Halloween Costume Contest, where they can enter to win great prizes while enjoying festive drink specials, including Spiced Apple Cider, Pumpkin Martinis, Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale and Coors Light. Don’t be shy, every ghost and goblin will be there! Costume categories include most original, sexiest, scariest and more.

Rahway Halloween and Zombie Event – Oct 31
This year, Rahway is THE place to be on Halloween! With a full day of events that cater to all ages and audiences, there is something happening for YOU in Rahway.
The day will kick off at 10 a.m. (tentatively) with makeup artists
11 a.m.- Costume Contests
12 p.m.- – Halloween Parade followed by Trunk or Treating
12 p.m. you can also check out the Rahway Zombie Scavenger Hunt,
6 p.m.- The Walk for us Zombies will begin.
A lot more fun is in store for the day like haunted attractions, fireworks, and musicals!

MET OPERA: Tannhäuser (Broadcast in HD) – Oct 31

All Hallow’s Eve Open House – Oct 31
By 1913, Halloween was being celebrated by people across America as a night for amusement and superstition, mischief and fortune telling. Traditional customs associated with the night remained in the form of playful parlor games and tricks played at Halloween parties where guests could briefly put aside conventionality. Join The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms for an All Hallows’ Eve Open House, a 1913-style Halloween party! Spend the evening in Gustav Stickley’s Log House, enjoying fortune-telling games from the period and refreshments.

Rocky Horror Picture Show @ the Newton Theatre – Oct 31
Let’s do the Time Warp again! Spend Halloween seeing cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show on the big screen! The pre-movie party at 7:30 PM includes music, dancing and a costume contest. To add to the fun, a professional shadow cast will act out the scenes during the film and props will be available for sale.

Experience Halloween at The Ryland Inn – Oct 31
The Ryland Inn is hosting their first ever Halloween party on Oct. 31 in honor of their resident ghost. Really. “It is a woman who is quite benign,” says Thomas McAteer, General Manager of The Ryland Inn. “This will be the first Halloween event at The Ryland and it is in her honor. We call her, ‘The Lady of The Ryland.’” She reportedly resides in the stairway and several staff members have felt her “catch them” as they tripped going down the stairs. Others have seen her in the Washington Room where she is thought of as a helping hand.

Homes of Hope Nepal Fundraising Wine Tasting – Nov 1
The event will take place on Sunday, November 1 from 1 – 4 at 80 Old York Road, Ringoes. This fundraiser will feature the a tasting of 6 wines, a tour of the winery by Tasting Room Manager, Christopher Principato, traditional Nepali snacks, and live music by the Irvin Comanda Group. During the event, you will have the opportunity to help design and create prayer flags that will be displayed in a Nepali library that will be built as part of the Homes of Hope Nepal project. The Homes of Hope Nepal project is a Somerset County (NJ)-based program with the goal to re-build 1,000 homes and provide $50,000 micro-credit loans to help rebuild Nepal after the April 2015 earthquakes. The event is $20, with all proceedings going to the Homes of Hope Nepal Project.
