Winslow Family Diner and Restaurant: Review
I’ve been trying to make my way to South Jersey more since that seems to be where the bulk of the diners are. So in mid-May I met up with friends to go to the Winslow Family Diner and Restaurant in Sicklerville (Camden County).
The diner opened in 2004 and is family run by Chef Pasa Ozturk, his brother Freddy (try Freddy’s fries which comes with Bacon,Cheddar and Mozzarella), his father, and most of his sisters. The diner prides itself on fresh ingredients, never frozen, which is something to appreciate right away. All of the dishes are made from scratch, and the baking is done on premises.
Their menu has so much to choose from, and I was impressed with how affordable everything was. They have typical diner fare – but they also had a great selection of seafood, steaks, chicken and veal. The item I found most unique on the menu was their “Reuben Dogs”, which are Grilled Hot Dogs on a Long Roll with Grilled Pastrami, Sauerkraut, Russian Dressing and Swiss Cheese.
They also have their own “Winslow Burger” which comes with Canadian Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Grilled Onions, & BBQ Sauce. *Note: They DO offer breakfast all day, however it’s a separate menu and you need to ask for it. It says so right in their lunch/dinner menu.
I was torn between a few items, but I can never pass up a good deal, so I went with one of their $9.99 dinner meals. Each meal comes with soup or salad, entree, and a beverage (soda, coffee, tea). They had 11 options to choose from.
I ordered the Lemon Pepper Chicken which came with two sides (I chose mashed potatoes and cauliflower). I opted to get the salad, which was very good for a side salad! I was also pleasantly surprised when my salad arrived with Italian bread AND corn bread. (The corn bread was AMAZING)
My meal was SO good and very filling. I was impressed with how much chicken it came with! And the mashed potatoes (which I got without gravy) were delicious. I’m in awe that the entire meal was $9.99 and they offer this deal every day.
Overall, I was very happy with my experience at this diner. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the prices were affordable! Another great South Jersey diner for the books!
