Roxbury Diner: Review
I was visiting Lake Hopatcong State Park this weekend and was looking for the close diner to stop by for breakfast to do a review for my weekly “NJ Diner Review”. I haven’t been to too many diners in Morris County, so I was looking forward to crossing the Roxbury Diner off my list.
Located off Route 10, this diner was very busy on Saturday morning. The customer base seemed either local/regulars or people who were going off to hike in the area. Since the area of Succasunna is filled with mountains and hiking, I’m sure they get their share of people who are on their way for some outdoor adventure or people who are on their way back.
The interior of the diner is filled with wood paneling and mirrors on the wall. In one section of the diner they had working (!) juke boxes on the table. It doesn’t look like it’s been updated in many years, but it was kept in excellent condition.
Their menu is filled with lots of typical diner fare. We were there for breakfast, but their menu spans from burgers to paninis, Greek specialties, pasta, lots of meat and seafood options, dessert for days, and a full liquor menu. Since they are open until 2am and 24 hours on Friday and Saturday, I’m sure they get a few people for just their specialty cocktails.
Their breakfast menu was quite extensive, and they had a lot of unique items. Their pancake menu blew my mind; they had Oreo pancakes, Rainbow pancakes, Chunky Monkey, Rocky Road, Smores and more.
Their omelette menu was also very creative. You could get the “Italian Stallion” which was filled with meat, veggie and cheese; the “Roxbury Round Up” with mushroom, bacon, onion, and Swiss, the “Route 10 Rancher” with beef, onion, and cheddar cheese…etc. The list went on and on, and a lot of them were named after the area or just Jersey in general.
Despite being tempted, I chose to be healthy and I got the “Garden State Omelette” which was filled with mushrooms, broccoli, onion, tomato, and spinach. I still splurged by eat the home fries, which were very good.
If you can’t make up your mind, they have a breakfast sampler, which my husband got. The sampler comes with two pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and pork roll.
Overall, the diner has lots of options for you to choose from, and it’s in a great area where there is plenty of outdoors things to do. Their hours are pretty flexible, so there is plenty of time for you to stop by!
