Perfect Pizza from Scratch at Sur La Table
What is more New Jersey than the perfect slice of pizza? Knowing how to do it in your own kitchen! When Sur La Table extended the invitation for the team at New Jersey Isn’t Boring to check out one of their many and very popular cooking classes…we were all in!
The class was filled with a huge mix of people; lots of couples, friends, men, work colleagues and mother daughter duo’s. This is the perfect date night activities or something to do with friends and family to escape the winter blues.
The Perfect Pizza from Scratch class was FUN. We were led by the larger than life Chef Derek who has over 20 years in restaurant experience. We were treated to extra skills during the class, like how to cut and onion without crying and how not to lose a finger in the kitchen (very important).
Togeter as a class, we contributed in making the dough before heading to our work stations to start our “Mise en place”, which is French for everything has its place. At the stations we got busy chopping, grating, mincing and blending every ingredient we were going to use in our pizzas. It was very hands on! Soon it was time to start rolling out the dough and constructing the perfect pizza. In this specific class we made a margarita, Italian sausage with kale, AND a potato and bacon pizza, so there was a lot of variety and something for everyone. Once the pizza was put together, it was placed in an oven on a pizza stone and soon after that it was CONSUMED! SO good.
Not only did the class finish with us eating our delicious perfect pizza but we also received a 10% off voucher to shop in the Sur La Table store afterward to get all the exciting tools and ingredients to make our own perfect pizza from scratch at home.
This was a very hands on experience and best of all we got to eat lots and lots of delicious pizza that we could say we made ourselves. Not only is it a great activity in general, but it is a learning experience that will help you enhance your cooking skills. Thank you to Chef Derek and Sur La Table for a wonderful evening!
