Bacon, Bacon, & More Bacon at the NJ Baconfest
True Story about me…I never ate bacon until I started New Jersey Isn’t Boring. I know, right? So I headed to the NJ Baconfest over the weekend to make up for lost time. This was definitely the place to consume bacon in every type of way!
We headed to the Tuckerton Seaport on a cloudy day to visit the NJ Baconfest, featuring bacon, bacon, local vendors, hot sauce, bacon, bacon, and bacon. Literally, everything had bacon in it. If you were a vegetarian, you were basically there to spectate since there were very few things there without bacon.
I started my day at the Baconfest getting the legendary bacon from the Oink and Moo food truck. My goodness was that great bacon! Their scratch made bacon is made from Pork belly from Esposito’s Meat, brined for 10 day, hickory smoked for 6 hours, and finished with a chipotle honey glaze. Now that’s quality!
There were many food trucks at the NJ Baconfest, all of whom were offering bacon in their menu. Other food trucks in attendance were Zinna’s Bistro, Dump N Roll, Ahhh! La Cart, Bacon Broads, the Tot Cart, Mexi Flip, Pompier Catering and Cuisine, Waffle de Lys, Cheezen, Philly Fry, and my friends at the WTF Food Truck (bacon shrimp po boy??).
Even the dessert trucks offered bacon! Betty’s Ice Box was offering “The King” (bacon, peanut butter, banana) and I saw several bacon cupcakes being eaten from the House of Cupcakes food truck.
The event also featured vendors, including Hot Sauce 4 Good and Bespoke Bacon who features Beer Bacon Jams.
There was also plenty of booze to consume including beer, featuring the local Pinelands Brewing Co, margaritas, and wine from Laurita Winery.
My eyes were set on one particular thing however, the Avocado ice cream at the Guac Spot. Yes, avocado ice cream that has been created and tested to meet perfection! At the NJ Baconfest they were offering it with hot caramel and bacon on top. SO good, and so filling!
In addition to the endless amounts of food and booze, there was also pig racing (which I found a little insensitive) and “hot dog” racing (dachshunds!) to watch, as well as a mechanical pig to ride.
We got this great picture of the mechanical pig from the top of the Tucker’s Island lighthouse, located in the Tuckerton Seaport.
Overall, a great time at the NJ Baconfest with bacon and fun! We met a lot of great vendors and people, and look forward to going back next year.
