Exit Zero, a New Jersey Zombie Tale
Press Release:
New Jersey meets its end not with a bang, but with a stagger.
Admit it, didn’t you always just know the zombie apocalypse would begin in New Jersey? That is the tag line for Exit Zero, a just released, conspiracy laden, zombie thriller by new author Neil A. Cohen which reviewers have described as “A novel written as a love letter to both the (zombie) genre and to the state of New Jersey.”
Exit Zero follows a group of disparate and desperate characters as they make their way down the Garden State Parkway during the first 48 hours of what could be a global pandemic. But Exit Zero is more than just a zombie book, as Cohen states, the story is as much the vein of political allegories such as Soylent Green and Manchurian Candidate. It is a mixture of genres, with elements that should also satisfy fans of The Sopranos and The Walking Dead.
Exit Zero was published in February 2015 by Permuted Press (www.permutedpress.com), a well-known publishing house for books in the genre of apocalyptic, post-apocalyptic, horror, fantasy, and science fiction which has previously published such zombie classics as Plague of the Dead by Z.A. Recht and Day by Day Armageddon by J.L. Bourne.
While Exit Zero is the author’s first release, it has garnered positive reviews and even some celebrity attention. MTV’s Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, a fan of the zombie genre, has expressed her love for the book via Twitter and the book is carried on the shelves of Jay and Silent Bobs Secret Stash, the comic book store that is featured in AMC’s Comic Book Men. But Exit Zero is not just for the Garden State crowd, the stories humor and adventure will resonate with anyone who enjoys a good zombie or conspiracy or mafia-style read.
Horror review websites have also praised Exit Zero with BeyondTheGore.com review declaring “Cohen’s cause for Zombification is nothing short of genius!” and DocTerror.com review “a thought provoking tale that touches on socio-political issues that are fresh in our minds and media.”
Neil Cohen has also appeared on Fox 5’s Chasing New Jersey news and variety show as a commentator on zombies in the news. Neil Cohen lives with his wife and two daughters in the Washington DC region where he works for a defense firm focused on chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense.
