Brewery Review: Demented Brewing Company in Middlesex
This past weekend I went to Demented Brewing Company in Middlesex to check out their “Soft Opening”. Since I have been following them on Facebook, I saw they were having an event and decided to stop by.
They have a great location, it’s a big space off of Lincoln Ave near Rutgers in Piscataway. It’s not too far from Route 18.
One of the first things I noticed when we got there we a big mural devoted to all things “demented”. This is only a very small part of what was on said mural. You will need to see in for yourself:
The placed was PACKED when I got there and the bar was full, but sought out a small space where my friends and I could drink. I decided to split two flights with friends since they have 7 beers on tap and I like to try everything. These were the beers they had on tap when I was there:
Double Dementia | Imperial IPA | 8.5%
Scarlet Night | American Red Ale | 5.8%
Litha | American Wheat Ale | 5.8%
Belladonna | Berliner Weisse | 3.2%
C-4 | IPA | 7.0%
Sol Reaper | American Pale Ale | 6.0%
Astarte | Strawberry Cream Ale | 5.5%
They had 3 flight options at their soft opening, and it made it easy to choose a flight based on your typical beer preference. Each flight had 4 beers and cost $5 each. Not too shabby! I chose the “Summer Celebration” flight which has the Belladonna, Astarte, Litha and the Sol Reaper. The other flight seen in the picture above is the “Hop Showcase” which had the Litha, Sol Reaper, C-4 and the Double Dementia. I tried my friend’s C-4 and Double Dementia, but I’m not an IPA person. To each his own!
My personal favorite was the Belladonna, and they have a slight specifically all about the Belladonna called the “Cordial Lady”. You can try it 4 different ways with your choice of different syrup options. They had black currant, cherry, green apple, peach and strawberry. I am definitely trying that next time!
