Working from a Coffee Shop: Breaking Grounds Coffee & Cafe in Mount Holly

I’m already charmed by  Mount Holly, so it was great to stop by a coffee shop in the downtown area to get some work done. Breaking Grounds Coffee and Cafe is nestled in the Mill Race Village of historic Mount Holly.

Breaking Grounds Coffee & Cafe opened December 1, 2017 and is the genesis of the Zefer Foundation. Brandi Fishman is the founder and President of the Zefer Foundation as well as the CEO of Breaking Grounds.

The Zefer Foundation, which is routed in Medofrd, has a mission is to shift society’s perception of individuals with Developmental Disabilities. Recently Breaking Grounds was recognized as one of the exceptional businesses in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area that employ adults with developmental disabilities.

In addition to employment, they also want want to create an open space where all adults with developmental disabilities are able to express themselves through various artistic mediums, including painting and music. Their goal is to establish an art gallery where they hope to display and sell the final pieces by opening a studio across the street from Breaking Grounds Coffee & Cafe.

Breaking Grounds Coffee & Cafe also keeps it local by partnering with Harvest Roastery in Medford, NJ. Harvest Roastery strives to serve the highest choice coffee from coffee beans grown all around the globe. Blends you can find are sourced from South and Central America, Indonesia, and Africa.

Beverage #1: Matcha

I can’t resist a matcha.

Other caffeinated beverages include drop, pour over, and French press coffee; lattes, cappuccino, flat whites, and macchiatos. Plus they have gourmet hot chocolate with flavors like S’mores, Milky Way, Almond Joy, Chocolate Covered Cherry, Pumpkin Cheesecake and more.

The menu at Breaking Grounds Coffee & Cafe is “built around the best ingredients and healthiest recipes for, lack of a better term, comfort food”. Food you can enjoy at the cafe include paninis, avocado toast, Giant Farmhouse Grilled Cheese, salads, bagels, and baked goods.

Beverage #2: Christmas Blend (seasonal)

Breaking Grounds has a large list of tea options like Moroccan Mint, Mayan Chai, Ginger Citrus, Harvest Apple and much more. They also serve tea from local NJ company Wise Ape Tea.

I generally loved my visit to Breaking Grounds – it’s a great cafe that supports an important mission and that’s so heartwarming to see. I hope you stop by and support this great cafe!
