Vineyard Review: Natali Vineyards in Cape May

IMG_4898

There are lots of great vineyards in New Jersey, and Natali Vineyards in Cape May Courthouse is definitely one of the best!

This small vineyards (which has plans for expansion) sits on 8 acres of land and has lots of wine to choose from.

When we arrived, we were given a tour by the owner, Al, who told us about the history of the vineyard and his plans for the future. This vineyard truly is a labor of love and a passion for him. He clearly knows what he is doing, and is proud of the wine he produces. In fact, all the grapes are hand picked and all the wine is bottled by hand! That’s a lot of work.

Their basic wine tasting is $5 for 5 wines, but they have so many options you may want to add on more tastings. When we were there they had 20 wines to choose from! Since wine can be a seasonal business, they are producing and creating new wine depending on the time of the year. One of their wines, Pineapple wine, will be produced in the Winter (and I want to go back to try it).

One of the things I was most impressed by was how many awards this winery has won! Their wine, Nonna’s Cucina, won an award for the best wine on the east coast!

Wines I tried:
– Sauvignon Blanc
– Cabernet Sauvignon
– Moscato
– Nonna’s Cucina
– Nonno’s Cellar aka “Party in a Bottle” – their best seller
– Raspberry Fusuion – 85% Merlo, 15% Raspberry (my personal favorite)
– Court House Blush
– Strawberry Wine

We also got to try their Cranberry wine which is best Cranberry wine I’ve had so far. Usually a cranberry wine is too tart or too sweet…this wine was perfect. Even my husband really liked it, and he does not like cranberry wine.

Exclusive to the vineyard was a Beach Plum Wine, made of 100% NJ Beach Plums. They are the only vineyard that does it. They also have a BANANA wine which I can assure you won’t find anywhere else. Taste it with peanut butter…it was definitely unique.

This is a great vineyard that hosts events all year round, including a weekly Wine Wednesday event! They have a great space on their patio, which has definitely seen it’s share of parties.

While we were there there was a very happy bachelorette party! Oh yeah…dogs are welcome too! You can visit this winery 7 days a week all year long, so make a trip to Cape May and check it out!
