New Jersey filmmaker Mannyx Guillen’s debut feature film “The Wonderpill” will be screened in its “hometown” Jersey City where the movie was produced and shot.

The raunchy comedy, which has been gaining momentum on the film festival circuit already winning two awards, has been selected for the Jersey City International TV & Film Festival. Mannyx Guillen comments “I’m so thrilled that we have the chance to show our film in its “hometown”, Jersey City. Without the amazing local community support, the movie would have never been produced”. Owners of local businesses – bars, restaurants, a T-shirt factory, an art gallery and even a doctor’s practice – were willing to support the local filmmaker allowing him to shoot in their locations. True community spirit was shown to help create this movie.

Synopsis:

Athena Cockburn suffers from excruciating migraines and has lost her vim and vigor. Her boyfriend, Jacob York, has had enough of their stagnated sex life and tricks her into taking a pill that will cure her migraines but with an extreme side effect: an exploding libido! The pill is actually a placebo but Athena is on fire. Their initial fun turns quickly into frustration when he can’t keep up with her anymore and she is off to the races.

Mannyx Guillen, who wrote, directed and produced “The Wonderpill” will attend the screening. Lead actors Dina Smirnoff, Jeffry Mora, and Gus Ferrari and several cast and crew members will also be present. There will be a Q&A after the screening.
