The Kenilworth Diner: Review

The Kenilworth Diner is a New Jersey Diner I’ve been wanting to go to for a while due to their tempting photos on social media. Their desserts alone made me want to stop by!

The diner is conveniently located right off the NJ Parkway on the boulevard in Kenilworth. Although there is plenty of street parking, the diner has it’s own parking lot as well.

The diner has been a community diner since the early 1970’s. In 2014 the Kenilworth Diner was purchased by four brothers; Tony, John, Bobby, and Jimmy Benas. All of their meals and desserts are made fresh daily to ensure you get the best quality food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The interior of the diner is very unique due to it’s open kitchen concept. You can clearly see all the cooking being done which is a really cool feature. The diner also looks like it’s been recently renovated. It has a very clean, updated interior from it’s wall decor to their seating. I especially loved their diner counter.

The diner menu features your typical diner fare, but also has a lot of fun, unique options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner making it difficult to decide what to get! NJIB Tip: Get some of their delicious coffee while you look through the menu!

Their omelettes are filled with options for any meat lover or vegetarian, lots of appetizers, homemade soups, lots of sandwiches, 1/2 lb burgers including specialty burgers like their Jersey Burger (Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese), options for fries like waffle, sweet potato, and tater tots, sloppy Joe’s, lots of hearty entrees, and authentic Greek meals.

Since they’re an authentic Greek Diner, I felt like this was the time to order one of my favorite Greek dishes, spanakopita (spinach pie), which came with a side Greek salad.

Their spanakopita is so flaky and delicious and didn’t overdue it on inside. Dare I say it was perfect?

Although I was full, and I had 3-4 cups of coffee, I couldn’t help staring at the Kenilworth Diner’s dessert case. All of their desserts looked AMAZING but it was their giant cream puffs that really caught my eye. I had to have one.

I ordered a traditional cream puff, which was basically the size of a burger. I thought I would only eat half of it, but no, I ruined my good eating for the week and ate the entire thing because it was definitely one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. I sat in bliss while I ate the whole thing. It was wonderful.

Of course I had to take home a piece of their award winning cheesecake to go. Getting two desserts is way over the top for me, but NJ.com rated their strawberry cheesecake the best in the state so I had to taste it for myself. It made an excellent dinner…I mean dessert.

With fantastic home style cooking and amazing homemade desserts plus excellent and quick service, the Kenilworth Diner should definitely be on your list of NJ diners to check out!
