St. Patrick’s Day at MJ’s Restaurant!

Evey year my friends and I get together for a St. Patrick’s day dinner. Unfortunately our favorite place of the last two years got new owners, so instead of going there we decided on going somewhere new.

As a facebook enthusiast I “like” local restaurants and bars so I can find their promotions easily. MJ’s Restaurant at Buttonwood Manor, located in Matawan, NJ seemed to be a perfect fit for our little group:

– $2  Green beer…check!

Green Beer!

– Corned beef and cabbage + other traditional Irish food…check
– Able to make a reservation to avoid waiting for hangry(angry, hungry) people…check
– A FULL menu of other great food for the picky eaters…check and check (I’ll admit right off the back that I’m somewhat of a picky eater and definitely not a corned beef and cabbage kind of gal…)

MJ’s is great. It’s the perfect combination of sports bar and restaurant. The bar area is pretty big if you’re looking to just grab a drink, eat some appetizers and catch whatever sports game is on. They also have plenty of seating outside of the bar, and it’s really nice when the weather is good since the tables overlook a decent sized lake with a fountain.

Although some of my friends decided to go off the Irish menu, I decided to stick to their regular menu. I knew they were popular because of their pizzas (and if you go, there’s at least 1 pizza per table) so my friend and I decided to split two bar pies: eggplant and shrimp pesto. SO GOOD!

MJ’s has 3 other locations nearish the Jersey shore so if you happen to drive by and you’re hungry, I highly suggest it as either a restaurant or a bar. They also have weekly events including trivia, kareaoke, etc so if you live local to a location you can easily become a regular.
