Quincy Mumford & The Reason Why’s 5th Annual Holiday Show
Why would a rising musician after 7 years, 700 plus shows, and five award-winning albums take so much time to support Mary’s Place by the Sea, a respite home for women who are receiving treatment for cancer? Asbury Park based 24 year-old singer/songwriter, Quincy Mumford shared his reason for continually supporting Mary’s Place, “One of the most rewarding aspects of my art form is the ability to reach people emotionally. I’ve heard from several people that music gives them a therapeutic effect and when we bring people together to support a communal goal it brings me such gratitude. To have my wife, parents and fans support Mary’s Place has been an unexpected positive experience in my career and life.”
Fans of Quincy Mumford and the Reason Why and supporters of Mary’s Place can come together for the 5th Annual Holiday Show on December 17th at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ not only to enjoy the songs that they know and love but also for the new widely anticipated sixth studio album release, “State of Mind”. Quincy states, “This record has a fresh sound, with a mix of funk, soul, and pop. This is all in the essence of creating a positive, feel good message.” Quincy and Michael released their first single and songwriting collaboration in January 2016 titled, Helping Hand. This song landed the winning title at The Philadelphia Songwriting Contest.
There will be 2 sets, one original from the new album and the other with a Super Jam featuring many guests including Albie Monterrosa, Remember Jones, Emily Grove, JT Bowen, Khadijah Mohammed, Michael Ghegan, Des from Des and the Swagmatics and more to be announced. The opening show will be performed by Little Stranger.
Doors will open at 7:30pm and tickets are $15 in advance or available for $20 at the door. The first 500 tickets purchased will receive a copy of the new album “State of Mind”. The first 200 people will receive free surf tacos and there will also be vendor tables set up throughout the event from an array of local companies. There will be also be a gift auction and huge grand prizes including Floyd Rose Electric Guitar, Sole Bike, and Apple iPad Air.

About Mary’s Place
Marys Place by the Sea is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women who have cancer. Guests are provided with unconditional care during their time of extreme need at NO COST to them. It is the mission of Mary’s Place by the Sea to give women with cancer a place to rest and recuperate during and after cancer treatments. The volunteers care for these women so they may focus on their healing. Guests are welcome to stay a few hours or up to three days. Some of the services offered to guests are oncology massage, nutrition education, guided meditation, yoga, journaling, spa services, one on one counseling and more.
The first care center was opened in the summer of 2009 and they just finished building a 10-bedroom home so that they will never have to tell a woman she has to wait to receive these services. Over 6,000 women have been guests at Mary’s Place by the Sea and have come from England to Alaska to experience the love and support provided. Fundraisers like this are helping build the home and continue the mission to help women across the nation fight cancer.
