My Date Night in Westwood, NJ

photo 3

Last Friday I took my husband to Westwood, NJ for a date night.

I had centered the whole date night around a movie theater I had researched called the Rosebud Theater.

What’s cool about the Rosebud Theater is that they play classic films. For example, when we went they were playing the Maltese Falcon starring Humphrey Bogart (a film that despite going to film school I had never seen).

Before the movie we went to the Westwood Diner (review is coming TBD for diner review Sunday) and since we had some down time we decided to walk around the town.

There are A LOT of cute independent shops in the downtown Westwood area.  Make sure you get there early since most of them close around 6pm. I went in a few of them, including Markethouse Local and Westwood Pets.

Market House Local sells exclusively local handmade products. They have a lot of pride in their store and it shows. It was really cute! It’s also next door to the Westwood Theater which I’d like to go back to see a movie someday.

Westwood Pets is an independent pet store that had a lot of different items. They had a few animals including guinea pigs and hamsters, and although they don’t sell dogs they had a dog working there!

Since we were cold while walking around, we stopped in Sogno Coffee (which was recommended to me by Market House Local). It’s a super cute coffee places with lots of beverages (hot and cold) to choose from. They also sell food, and had a lot of variety of crepes. They’re also connected to a restaurant called Caffe Anello which was really popular on a Friday night.

Finally, we ended up at the Rosebud theater and had a lovely time seeing the Maltese Falcon. It’s a small theater, but it’s very cozy and the seats are very comfortable. I recommend it!

If you’re looking for a good day trip Westwood is definitely a good suggestion! Their downtown also has a train station, so it’s easy to get there.
