Merchantville Diner: Review

Downtown Merchantville is always a fun trip! They have great shops, great restaurants, and even a new brewery. While visiting the town, I decided to grab lunch at the Merchantville Diner, a small diner located on Centre St.

Their menu is a decent size and easy to navigate. Their breakfast menu looked incredible (in fact that is what was recommended to me to eat there), and had some interesting omelettes including a “Meat Lovers”. They also serve up “Jumbo Burgers” which are a whopping 1/2 of beef which have everything from a standard burger to a “Reuben Burger” which is exactly what it sounds like.

One issue I had with the diner was their description of disco fries. One thing I say about diners is that I don’t care whether they call it pork roll or Taylor ham, but I will argue with you over the contents of disco fries. Disco fries to me are ALWAYS fries topped with mozzarella cheese and gravy. The Merchantville Diner describes disco fries as…cheese wiz sauce and chopped bacon? Sigh. I’ll admit that sounds good but that is NOT disco fries. Sorry. Rant over.

I decided to get something that you can’t go wrong with at a diner, a chicken gyro! Yes, this is usally my go to diner lunch and I have never regretted it.

The chicken gyro at the Merchantville Diner was fantastic and filling. Plus the fries were served crispy(which is always a plus in my book) and the pickle was HUGE.

Overall I had a pleasant diner experience at the Merchantville Diner, although it was nothing to write home about. Since I have family that lives a few blocks away, chances are I’ll be back!
