High Point Brewing Co/Ramstein Beer in Butler: Review

I’ve gotten to taste High Point Brewing Co/Ramstein Beer at various beer festivals and I’ve always loved everything I’ve tried, so my friends and I traveled to Butler to experience their brewery.

Founded in 1996, High Point Brewing Company produces German-style Lagers and Wheat Beers in their brewhouse. Their founder, Greg Zaccardi, an award-winning brewer who trained and brewed professionally in southern Germany, imports their ingredients from Germany. The malt, hops and yeast used to make Ramstein Beer are imported directly from Bavaria.

To make their beer, they use the finest imported German wheat and barley mixed with pure mountain water to create their “brewer’s mash”. Setting them apart from most breweries, they adhere to traditional and authentic German method of decoction to create their beer.

When I was there they had six beers on tap! So of course we got a flight to try all of them. PS. Their tasting glasses are huge!
– Dunkel Hefe-Weizen
– Winter Wheat Doppelbock
– Imperial Pilsner
– Northern Hills Amber Lager
– Revelation Golden Lager
– Double Platinum Hefe-Weizen

Their beer is fresh and crisp, and they have so much variety that any beer aficionado would be appreciative!

I am partial to German-style beers, so I was very happy with my flight. My favorites were the Hefewizeins, especially the Dunkel. Their seasonal beer, the Winter Wheat Doppelbock has a 9.5% ABV and has tastes of clove, and apple, caramel and chocolate. Perfect for Winter!

Overall, a very pleasant experience at High Point Brewing Co. Great and affordable beer in a laid back atmosphere!
