Forgotten Boardwalk’s Spice of Life Event: Organ Donation Awareness & Spiced Up Beer this Sunday

On Sunday, January 28th, 2018, Forgotten Boardwalk Brewing (1940 Olney Ave, Suite 100, Cherry Hill, New Jersey) will be holding their annual charity event to raise awareness about the benefits of organ donation.  “The Spice of Life” was first created by the brewery in 2014 to commemorate the anniversary of Forgotten Boardwalk’s own Seth Dolled’s living kidney donation to his mother Sharon.  This year marks the 12th anniversary of the successful donation.  A portion of the proceeds from the event will go towards The Living Kidney Donors Network, The National Kidney Foundation as well as The Gift of Life Donor Program, who will be on site to help people register as an organ donor during the event.

Attendees can enjoy specially brewed “spiced up” beers for this event as well as beer from Forgotten Boardwalk’s classic beer lineup.  Attendees are encouraged to participate in an all new health and wellness section featuring South Jersey Health & Wellness from Cherry Hill, providing free chair massages, blood pressure screenings & BMI checks.  The National Kidney Foundation of Delaware Valley will be on hand for those that want to learn more about kidney donation and kidney disease prevention.  Rare Patient Voice will be in attendance to provide patients and caregivers with rare diseases an opportunity to voice their opinions through surveys and interviews to improve medical products and services.

This event will have specialty made “spiced up” beers, including Lady #8 (Our What the Butler Saw brewed with Watermelon, Basil & Spiced with Dragon Cayenne, Jalapeno & Habanero Peppers), 1916 Shore Shiver with Szechuan Peppercorns, Lemongrass & Thai Chili Peppers, Mexican Coffee Funnel Cake, Growler’s Spicy Mole Stout, Mr. Watson White IPA Spiced with Clove, as well as two brand new beers from Forgotten Boardwalk’s Curiosity Series: Session IPA Spiced with Pomelo Zest & a Berliner Weiss Sour with lemonade, cucumber, cayenne & lemon zest.

Beers from Forgotten Boardwalk’s classic lineup such as Funnel Cake (Nitro also available), What the Butler Saw, 1916 Shore Shiver, seasonal selections Come Quick Danger (Imperial IPA) and Mr. Watson (White IPA) will also be available.  The Cow and the Curd food truck will be located outside of the brewery’s licensed premises for the event.

Having fun and maintaining an active lifestyle are an important aspect of this years’ health and wellness section allowing Forgotten Boardwalk to introduce “Snookball”, a brand new feature that is available to play during the event.  The sport is played on a giant inflatable “pool table” that multiple players can walk on. All the rules are the same as pool, except that you use your feet instead of a cue and the balls are replaced by soccer balls.
