East Orange Launches 1st Ever Restaurant Week Now – November 10th

The City of East Orange will be hosting its 1st Ever “EO Eats Local” Restaurant Week this fall from Monday, November 4 through Sunday, November 10. More than a dozen restaurants are participating and offering specialty Caribbean and Southern-style dishes like salmon sliders, seafood hushpuppies, pineapple pepper wings, pumpkin, chickpeas and more.

Each day, a different participating restaurant will offer special entertainment, culture, and even education, alongside their food and drink specials, culminating with a “Taste of East Orange” event on Saturday, November 9, at the Essence Rooftop, 144 South Harrison Street, between 5pm-8pm. This ticketed rooftop event will be packed with delicious bites from local restaurants, quenching beer samples from The City of Orange Township’s Four City Brewing, and art by local artists Sterling Brown and Gwendolyn “Arri” Jackson. Tickets are available for this event for $10 on Eventbrite.

Mayor Ted R. Green is excited to showcase the city’s wide array of cultural cuisine.

“Our food is one of the city’s best kept secrets,” said Mayor Green. “But what I love most is the camaraderie that comes from connecting with people over food. I applaud the efforts of the Department of Policy, Planning and Development for creating an experience that highlights not just our small businesses, but also the strong sense of community pride that East Orange is known for. ”

Community Development Specialist Mark Cheatam, who is spearheading the week long event, said small businesses are key to the health of our local economy.

“In East Orange, we are fortunate to have so many incredible entrepreneurs serving up delectable tastes in our city,” said Cheatam. “Restaurant Week is a great way to celebrate these small businesses and transform individuals who might dine elsewhere into regulars in our city!”

Local restaurants participating in East Orange Restaurant Week include: Spice N Thing, Dominy’s, Soul Food Factory, Urban Taste, South Beach Bar & Grill, International Fusion Restaurant, Limin’s Cafe Caribe, Strictly Bagels & Things, Jersey Boys Halal, and Mrs. G’s and more.
