Diner Round Up – The Summit Diner

IMG_0771

The Summit Diner, located in downtown Summit, is definitely the cutest little diner I’ve ever seen!

It looks like a train car, and when you’re inside it you feel like you’re in a train car. It literally has the tiniest bathroom I’ve ever been in my life.

Want a menu? Nope, not going to happen! They list their food items right above where they make the food. It’s a small menu, so it’s not like you’re going to end up making long decision anyway. And yes, the diner is that small that you can see your food being made which is a nice bonus.

Want to bring a big group? That will not happen either. The diner can fit roughly 50 people.

I decided on getting a mushroom omelette which was quite delicious. The home fries were really crispy and yummy.

My husband got eggs with taylor ham (it said taylor ham on the menu, please do not shoot me pork roll advocates). He was quite pleased, and as you can see it looks very good.

Also, I should add that a very rare thing about this diner is that they also have a non-profit!

The mission of the Fellow First Foundation is (from their website): “We exist to bring help and comfort to New Jersey families in distress. In life, the true measure of a person is not how high you fly. Instead, we think it’s all about how high you bounce. All of us have good and bad days. Most of us have better good ones than bad. However, every once in a while, the less fortunate need a helping hand. That is why we exist. We fund only organizations that deal with New Jersey families in distress. All of our profits go to organizations like the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, the New Jersey Community Foundation, Summit Area Public Foundation or Family Promise.”

One of the ways you can donate to the cause is by naming a Summit Diner table or stool for one or two years in honor of someone or promoting your business.

You can see this sign as you’re exiting the diner as well:

My recommendation is to spend the day in downtown Summit since it’s a great area with local business owners, and grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner as this great diner! Tell them I sent ya!
